Alaska Lucille


I know, I know, I KNOWWWW, Alaska is the name of a state, not a person, but seriously, I can't get this name out of my head. I posted about it a few weeks ago, and generally, people hated it, but still, bear with me. For those who didn't see my post, I read a book, "Looking For Alaska" by John Green, and it has had some serious effects on me. In addition, I've always wanted to go to Alaska, always, I think it'd be so beautiful and wonderful there.

So, basically, Alaska has a lot of strong connotations for me. The book really did change my life, and the state is someplace I've been dying to go for honestly, a very long LONG time.


I mean, people name their kid's places all the time. London, Dakota, so is Alaska really that out of place?


And how about just the combo, Alaska Lucille. Yay or nay?

Yesyes, Alaska is an extremely flawed character. I know it may seem to be a bit of a bad omen, then, but I really liked her carefree spirit and her love of knowledge. I'm not going to name my child after her because she's like, a whore, but because of what you could have learned from her and what happened to her. And I think the story of how she picked her name is cute, and I love the meaning "that which the sea breaks against"

I did enjoy the book, very much. I wasn't meaning to minimize your experience with it; I just think it's important to be very critical of something, especially if you're going to make a permanent decision based on it (hypothetically). But yes, I liked the book and I'm still carrying around all the emotions that it make me feel.
