[identity profile] mykissmightkill.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
So I'm prob still a few years away from kids but I just figured I'd post my list of favorite names/combos and see if anyone had any suggestions bout them :)
I'm kinda picky for girls names, theres few I love, and while i have a sort of abundance of family boys names Id use for mn's, 1st names are harder to come by that i like as well so my list isnt large.

Girls: #1 is the one im set on using. The other two are just b/c i like them a lot and figure i should have more than just one name that i like haha..
1. Tessa  Carmella Renee - NN- Tess, This is prob the only girl name that I would want 2 middle names for. Carmella for my mom and grandma who passed 2 yrs ago, and Renee because I love it with Tessa.

2. Isabella Michelle- michelle is my sisters name

Audrey Heather - just kinda like the combo but I'm not completely in love with it.

Boys:
James Robert- always loved James. Robert is my dads middle name, though its not one that HAS to stay there. just a thought
or
James Gary - Garys my dad's first name

Jude Aaron- looove jude and have always liked aaron. no particular reason for either of them though.

Jace Neil- Neil after my pop-pop

Those are combos I really love. As for other names, I like/kinda like:
Lucy - just think its really cute
Grace-cute and grandma's name
Annalise- prettyname just like the sound of it
Tegan- prn Tea-gen
Lena- prob woudlnt use cuz my cousins daughter is this
Layla- like the clapton song! i just like it
Steven- also my bf's name, well sorta, his birth certificate says Steve
Kyle
Brenden
Anthony
Zachery or Zackery-i dont know if this is common, with the k i mean. but I knew someone with it as Zack and it didnt seem abnormal to me.
David
Paul

On another note, I was on another livejournal community that posts wedding pictures and from there a found the gallery off a photographers website. Listed were names of the couples she had photographed  with album covers of the couples and they were all pretty common and normal seeming names till I got to one gallery of Ryan and his white, blonde female wife named:   "Phuket" ...ive never heard this before and it struck me as VERY awkward and odd.

Isabella is SO trendy. It could be worse (Madison anyone?) but I definitely would reconsider it. I like that the middle name has meaning for you, but the repeating -elle- sounds in the names is too much.

I love Audrey; Heather is okay but NMS.

James Robert is a great name. I like this better than Gary, although James Gary isn't awful, either. Gary is just blah and Robert gets the same meaning with a better name.

Jace is way too trendy/nickname-y. If you want to use Jace, I'd suggest using Jason as a full name and using Jace as a nickname. It just doesn't work as a given name and it sounds like someone is constantly being cut off while saying Jason. I don't like either name anyway, though. I like Neil.

I love Lucy, Annalise, Lena, and Laila/Leila spelled this way - I don't like Leyla. Grace is overused and Tegan is awful compared to your other names. You have some really gorgeous ones, but Tegan is awful. Go with the others.

For boys, I like Brendan (spelled this way), Anthony, Zachary (Zack is a common spelling of the nickname, but Zackary/Zackery looks really trendy/like you're trying to change the spelling to look cooler), David, and Paul. Kyle and Steven just aren't my style and both seem a bit dated.

For the most part, I really like your style. The only ones I really dislike are Jace and Tegan. Even Isabella, despite its popularity, is a decent name.

I thought of the Jace-Jason thing but i think i would end up calling him Jace most of the time anyway and everyone always says if youre going to just call a kid something why name them another name.

Because Jace doesn't look like a real name on a job resume. I think when people say "If you're going to call him ____, why not name him that?" they mean why call a kid by his middle name if that's what you're going to call him? Or why name your kid Luke if you're going to call him Jack? Jace doesn't pass the business card test at all; Jason does. Plus, Jace just seems so incomplete. And very very very trendy. And not in an Isabella kind of way. More in an Aiden kind of way.

As for the spelling of Zackery, 20 years ago it wouldn't have seemed like they were trying to make it look cooler, but that's exactly the trend these days -- change the spelling to make it look different. While nobody would have thought that 20 years ago, they definitely would right now.

If Jace and Tegan are "guilty pleasures," then you probably understand what I mean about why they wouldn't be good choices. I like a lot of names that work very poorly in practice, too, but please please please relegate them to middle name status or use them on pets. They just seem so tacky on human beings and you have some GORGEOUS names on your list that are so much nicer.

I don't think you'll get to use Zackery if it's the name of an ex ;) no way on earth my husband would let me consider an ex's name :p
