[identity profile] ladyjp.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I'm not planning on having kids for a few years yet but I love thinking about their names. I'm Scottish and I think I'm fairly traditional with names. My last name is Scott but I'm hopeful I would be married to my boyfriend whose surname is Hill.

My favourite girls name is: Rachel Catherine

I don't really have many ideas other than that - I have a big feeling that I will only have boys but who knows! I'd love more girl names!

Boys names are much more difficult. I like:

Michael (not sure my boyfriend would let me use this as this is after my favourite racing driver!)
Andrew
David (boyf's middle name so probably a no)
Matthew
James

Any suggestions?

I love the name Rachel. Of course I'm biased, since it's my name. But it's so simple and classic and cute for a kid and professional for an adult and...just right in all the right places! Plus I like the meaning: "motherly, like a lamb." Certainly fits me. :)

*confused*.... but a lamb is a baby, not a mother ?

LIKE a lamb. As in gentle and sweet.

Oh I see... so you meant that it has both those meanings (motherly, and like a lamb)...
I read it as "motherly like a lamb" - as in, motherly in the same way that a lamb is motherly... and was like -huh?!

But Rachel is a lovely name :)

OH I see why you interpreted it that way. I should have used a semicolon instead of a comma..they're two separate meanings. "motherly" and "like a lamb" as in gentle.

Haha and I should've read your second comment before replying :)

Lambs are adorable, and often symbolise innocence/purity

ooh, good one. I would much rather use a lamb as my own personal symbol! I went with the lily. not that this is official, but was a confirmation project back in the day. so, uh... totally doesn't matter :) my first and middle names mean pure, young one (katharine-paige). lambs are way better than lilies.
