i think i've **finally** come to a decision on a name. i'm almost afraid to post it for fear of being berated and then doubting myself. i want to know what you think in terms of the two middle names thing. no one in my family has two middle names, but i'm torn about it and i want to use two middle names--but i think it might be too long.

so for better or worse..here are my names, parenthesis on the middle name that would be second if i chose to have a second name.

Boy:
Landry Mark (Otis)

Girl:
Ainsley Margaret (True)

edit: I should note that I'm due Nov 27th. And hopefully I'll find out here within the next month what I'm having.

I don't like the two middle names; what is the significance of doing that? I am not a fan of either of your choices, but they aren't terrible by any means - just not for me. But just so you know, I read "Laundry" at first and had to do a double-take.

Landry. i'm from Texas. i have a Texas tattoo for crying out loud. i was really looking for a Texas themed name...and i came across Landry (Tom Landry, legendary coach of the Dallas Cowboys) and i just kinda love it because its unique and very Texan.

If you were really confident about your name choices, being berated wouldn't make a difference in how you feel about your name choices.

I generally don't like two middle names, but I don't mind when a mother's maiden name is used as a second middle name; second middle names are rarely, if ever, used and only make signing official documents take longer (passport, multiple copies of mortgage papers, credit cards, et cetera). Honestly, though, I don't think middle names are necessary at all.

I like your names for the most part. However, I would prefer Mark Landry to Landry Mark and I like Mark Otis even more; Landry is a pretty common last name in my area, as well as the name of a popular seafood restaurant, so I just don't care for it.

I LOVE Margaret, but I dislike Ainsley and I strongly dislike True. Ainsley has a nasal, whiny sound to it that I dislike and I also think it sounds like a boy's name. True just sounds as silly as the middle name Candles, which was recently given to a co-worker's manager's young daughter.

I'd spare the True, though. It's kinda awkward.

I love love love Ainsley and Margaret, and I think they sound great together:) Not a huge fan of True, but as a second middle name . . . whatever.

I'm not a huge fan of Landry, but I don't think there's really a problem with it. Landry Mark sounds cool, and it's definitely a hell of a lot better than the billions of Jaydens/Kaydens/Aydens in the world. The only thing I'd say is that it's awfully close to Laundry, but that's definitely not a deal breaker -- and I shouldn't talk, since I love Asa, which is just one letter away from Ass;)

Also, I love Otis. I think I'd prefer Otis to Landry, but as I said, I don't think Landry's that bad, just close to Laundry.

I have to say, it drives me up the wall when people always say that they read Landry as Laundry. Maybe it's just because that I've never seen it like that. But I just wanted to let you know not everybody sees it like that. And some people (moi), actually like it!

I don't like the Mark or the Otis though. Ainsley Margaret, Ainsley True, Ainsley Margaret True, all sound really pretty to me.

i most likely will use just the one middle name, because the more and more i think about it, i just feel like its too drawn out. For both the girl's and boy's middle name I'm using my mothers and father's name (or a derivative of it, since my mother's name is Margo). That's why those names aren't really up for debate. My brother and I both have our grandmother and grandfather's name as our middle names, respectively. (Joanne and Franklin)

If he ever buys a house, he won't be able to get away with just writing down part of his name. Even if his name was twelve names long, he'd have to write the whole thing out, usually in triplicate.

For what it's worth, I like both names, especially Landry. You know what? This is your child, and if you like the names, it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. Those are both strong, good names.

I did not see Landry as Laundry not everyone does, just like what laminy said. And its not even prounounced that way either so I dont think you will have poblems with it. I think it is pretty. I would do 2 middle names only if it sounds good.

Landry Mark sounds great and so does Ainsley Margaret. I love them both. I think for you, I would use only one middle name because those both sound prefect.

As a fellow Texan, I totally get where you're coming from with Landry. It wouldn't be my choice b/c I'm not a big football gal, but if you're ok with the association, then I think the name itself is strong.

As far as 2 middle names... well, most of the time, most people that the kids meet in their lives won't even know that they have 2 middles. So really, the names would be for you & your kids. Go for it, if you like them enough.

I like the names - second-middles included. The only one I'm hesitant about is the name "True", but it's your kid, not mine ;)

I had to do a double-take on your boy's name, though; A guy I went to high school with was named Mark Landry, and he passed away. I haven't heard anyone mention him for a while, and I'd sort of forgotten about him til now. (We weren't close friends or anything, and if not for the accident, I'd probably never remember him after leaving high school anyway)

I like Ainsley Margaret True a lot! The double middle name thing works, in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of Landry Mark Otis...maybe Landry Otis Mark.... or Mark Landry Otis....I guess I just don't like Landry Mark. Sounds like a scientific term or something...

i dont mind landry, but its a last name to me, since its the last name of a friend of mine. and i dont see laundry. i like otis too, and like the two middle names because youre honoring people with each name.

i am not a fan of ainsley, its whimpy, imo. i love margaret though! and it has so many great nickname possibilities! i like the idea of true being a middle name, also.
