I wanted to ask the opinion of people who appreciate names as much as me

Okay so question.....

My husband is adopting my son. We are going to change his last name of course and his middle name. I really want my husband to help me pick a name. He loves the name Alexander. I love it too. But....he has an ex girlfriend whos name is Alexandria. I hate her. Those names a real close to each other and she is the only reason why I am refusing to use Alexander. I also like the name Nathaniel and since I'm being stubborn about the closness his exgirlfriends name we are leaning towards Nathaniel. Now the question. Am I being stupid? I should just get over it right? Alexander is a great name, I think.

I guess it depends how long ago he dated her, and how serious it was. For example, if she was a girl he dated freshman year of college, or if they were only together for a few months, I think the associations would fade as it becomes your son's middle name. But if it was a serious relationship, then I think you're pefectly justified to find another name you both like. You can't go wrong with either Alexander or Nathaniel.

He dated her before we got together and they were together for like 2 years. He wasn't serious about her. I've asked him before if he never intended to marry her then why stay with her for so long? He just says stupid stuff like,"Because I was trying to pass the time before i met you." or "I thought i loved her but turns out I didn't love any one until I met you." *puke* haha! I just tell him to shut the f-up! Dork! But seriously he doesn't know why he stayed with her for that long. They had been broken up for like 4 or 5 months and was considering getting back with her and then he met me and he never gave it another thought. She did stupid stocker stuff for a few months but has left us alone for a while now. I probably don't hate her she was just an annoyance for a little while. You know.

Okay. Yeah. You're totally allowed to reject Alexander on that basis.

Heh. That's hilarious. I think that's about what I would say if someone tried to use those lines on me.

haha yeah.....he can be romantically impared sometimes...but he tries. :P
