Oh & I didn't get to comment on your other entry, but I personally love Ireland as a first name. I went to college with a girl named Ireland and she also went by her nickname Irie [pronounced "Eye-ree"]. I always thought it was a gorgeous name, maybe I'm just biased because I'm Irish ;P
I'm used to wrong pronunciations, my first name is Nicolette and as easy as that looks to say everyone finds a way to screw it up. Plus my maiden name was Costanzo, and there were always extra A's and N's getting thrown in there. Once you tell someone how to say it it should be fine IMO, like Chelsea, it ends the same.
I agree, and like Chelsea, it ends the same way with the same "ea" ending. Actually I had orignally picked the "ea" because best friend at the times middle name was Lea, pronounces Lee, so I was doing it for her. But I had a boy, lol.
I actually think Ireland is a very pretty name for a girl. I know I would have loved it. I like Eilea, although not as much. I know a girl who is named Eilea and pronounces it i-LEE-ah, and I prefer it that way.
There was a girl in one of my classes in high school named Aili, pronounced like "I-Lee"...I'd spell it like Aili or Ailee...maybe even Eilee or Eiley. Eilea is kind of confusing.
Eh I'm used to mispronounced names, my first name is Nicolette and my maiden was Costanzo. But yea, once you get it out there how to say it, its all good.
i had a friend in high school whose last name was Ihle (pronounced i-lee as well) but i've never thought of it as a first name...which i love!! i think it's different and pretty. i also love the ireland/irie combo.
Not really, there are many different spellings for it if you read the comments, but I know for sure I added the a at the end. I just like it better that way and I was doing it in honor of a friend originally, cause her middle name is Lea pronounced Lee, but we arent friends anymore.
