I'm not pregnant, and I probably won't be for some time yet. However, I love names, and I have always had a slight obsession on that front.

My name is Jessica Blanche, a name which my parents chose because they felt 'Jessica' was the most un-spectacular and fitting in-est name they could find. Not that I'm bitter or anything ;-).

Anyway, my favourite name lists - what do you think?

Hi :)
My parents did that too, by accident. Given name is a lame overused 80s name. Then to make it worse my younger brother's name is an underused classic, and a family name. Goddamn it why did the non onomast kid get the best name!

You have awesome taste, all really charming, classic names. Which is very fashionable right now so they will fit in with their school friends. Some of them are getting pretty common though. There have to be at least a million Emmas, Graces and Jacobs running around.

Nothing on those lists I dislike, though am not mad keen on Katie and Rosie as given names (though very nice as nns for Katherine/Kate and Rose)

My faves are ...
Alice
Ada (newest addition to my list, as a first name)
Grace
Rose
Eliza (my second fave variant of Elizabeth, after Elise)

Also like Eleanor and Clare, those are my roomates names.

Arthur
Max
Thomas (my brother's mn, picked it myself)
Richard*
Edward
Oliver
Henry
Andrew

*really do think this name is awesome. Kind of a shame next to nobody is using it any more, but that just makes it offbeat ergo cooler. Has been roadtested by my brother, and he wears it well.

Eliza is very pretty, I really like all variants and short forms of Elizabeth (except the one I got stuck with, oh the irony)

Had a similiar thing there, my mum wanted to name me Megan. Would have liked that, could have pulled off Meg.

So you're in the UK, cool, so am I. :)

Yeah I know a fair few Katie (with that as a full name). They've all ended up going by Kate. Which I suppose it more 'grown up'.
