The phenomenon that is Marie

So, why is it that Marie is everyone's and their mother's middle name? Its so rarely used as a first name. Whenever I meet someone named Marie I think "wait...thats against the rules, what possibly could their middle name be???"

Anywho, thoughts on Marie as a middle and first name? Would you ever give this middle name to your daughter?

If I use Marie as a middle name, it'll be for my mom. Her name is Jeanmarie, and she hates Jean, so Marie it is!
