[identity profile] hopeless.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I'm not pregnant but my husband and I are thinking about a second child.

We have a daughter named Ria Emily. (feel free to share thoughts on that)

We live in India. I am not Indian but my husband is. Our child(ren) will however attend an international school and will likely be surrounded with more foreigners than Indians.

Any ideas on a name for a potential sibling?

Indian names tend to be hard to pronounce for others, especially my family. I don't mind common middle names, but common first names are not an option.

I used to work for a couple of Indian families. Some names I liked:

Sreedevi
Karishma
Uma
Krishna (She was a girl, thought it was an interesting idea)
Neelima (Supposed to translate to something similar to "blue girl", pronounced "neely-MA")
Sonali

Then for boys Ravi and Nikhil.

That's too bad. :( I live in Texas and I'd say South Asians make up less than .5% of our population in my town, had no idea they were common names.

I do like Uma too though. :)

I totally catch your drift. I think Ashley on its own is a gorgeous name, but I would never name one of my children that.

You'll come up with something. :)
