Hey-

I am currently pregnant and my fiance and I are shooting around names. We sort of said if its a girl I would get to pick the first name and he would get the middle and then if its a boy he would get the first and I the middle...

So here is what we have so far:

Boy: Norman Joseph (Same as my fiances name, and my uncles name for the middle, tho everyone in my family has that middle name. it wouldn't be a junior either.)

Girl: Riley Marie

I really always wanted my kids to have unique names but I guess thats not really going to happen. I LOVE Riley but now of course I hear it everywhere and Marie is for his sister but I think its such a common middle name.

As time goes on I am starting to really dislike both of these but he is set on them so I dont really know how I can say umm ok new names, I dont like them anymore ...

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe different spelling or something? Middle names that might spice up the names?

My brother (and father!) are now both adult Norman's and while I dont think it ever bothered my dad, I know my brother (and I actually) haaaaated having such an old fashioned name growing up.

He couldnt be anything but a Norm/Normy now but it was hard having such an adult name as a kid. (My name is Janine. When said together we sound like a couple born in the 40s).

Perhaps Norman as a middle name? Do you think your SO would go for it?

I mentioned it but he is dead set on the boy being named after him since he is named after his father. he never said it bothered him tho but i always wanted a little skater boy with a mohawk and i dont think that idea goes well with the name Norman/Norm or Normy! lol.

I do like Janine tho. I knew a girl in high school with the name, i never thought it sounded old at all.
