First off, I'm not pregnant nor do I plan to be in the near future. But I really like the following names so I thought I'd find out what people thought about them. Second, I'm going for the two middle names thing. Both my sister and I have two middle names and I can't imagine life without them. So I'm sticking to that for my children (if they will ever be born). For the record, I'm not fussy about how the names are thrown together so if you think of another combination that would sound better go right ahead and tell me. Enough rambling:
Girls:
Evangeline Aurora Rose
Gabriella Ripley Reese
Niamh Arwen Beatrix
Miho Eowyn June
Alexis Eunice Karabo
Boys:
Jakob William Toben
Karl Rory Julian
Lenin Eli Benjamin
Alejandro Eomer Joaquin
EDIT:
Perhaps I should have provided some explanation. I identify as socialist so I make a rather large distinction between Lenin & Trotsky and Stalin. Kind of like the way someone would see a difference between George W Bush and Ralph Nader. Also, I prefer Karl to Carl because I think Carl is boring and...surburban I suppose. Same with Jakob/Jacob.
Eunice is my mother's name and Karabo is a Sotho name (here in South Africa). If you're pronouncing it Caribou you're not getting it right. It's pronounced 'Kar-ah-boh' (it's a bit difficult to explain). And yes, I love LOTR but I would never use those names as a first name. Thanks for all the opinions though, some really cracked me up.

I'm not a fan but...
Date: 2006-01-07 04:28 pm (UTC)Individually I do like:
Gabriella
Ripley (although it does remind me of Ripley's Believe it or Not, but I still really like it and have thought about it for my own use)
Beatrix (I love older style names, however it kinda reminds me of Harry Potter)
Alexis (Its one I have picked out for my own daughter some day)
Toben (I LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. My first son will be names Tobias Christopher, and I love that too. Again I like older style names)
Karl (My best friend's dad's name is Karel his parents are Czech and I like the spelling with the K (but would leave out the E as it always looks like it should be said Carrell to me which is obviously a female name)
Julian (but I would use it effeminately)
Eli (I like it with Benjamin too)
I don't like:
Aurora (Or Aurora Rose, or Rose which are all popular right now especially Aurora Rose) because it reminds me of the fairy from Sleeping Beauty
Arwen or Eowyn too LOTR for me
Beatrix - I like but it borders on Bellatrix from Harry Potter
Miho and Evangeline are just too odd for me
Eunice sounds hard and reminds me of Eunuch
Karabo reminds me of Caribou
Jakob I like Jacob but not a personal favorite and I'd much rather see the spelling with a C than a K, the K just makes the name look harsh
Rory sounds like a girls name and I'm in general not fond of it usually (sometimes I like it but it's rare)
Lenin has far too many negative historical connotations.
Alejandro I don't like unless you are of hispanic ethnicity and even then I think it's too over used.
Eomer and Joaquin are just too odd for me, I'm not even sure how to say them.
