Mar. 26th, 2008 04:18 pmHi, all. I'm about four months along with my first baby and need help choosing a girl's name. (Don't know yet if we're having a girl or boy but if we have a boy, hubby has already decided to name him Jacob.)
BabyNames.com list.
Poll in my journal.
(I'm leaning towards Ava Sophia.)

Date: 2008-03-27 02:36 am (UTC)Ava Sophia was the first one I thought of, I think that's why it's my favorite. But I really like the other names as well.
Isabella Sophia is pretty, I'll have to take that into consideration. I know all about long names, mine is Sengsouline Sikhounmeuang. And that's without a middle name. LOL.

Date: 2008-03-26 10:22 pm (UTC)At least it's not Ava Grace, which seems to be an incredibly popular matched set.
Even if your surname is uncommon, keep in mind she could marry into Smith or Johnson, etc.
So yes. I vote for ________ Parker [Lastname].
For what it's worth...
Date: 2008-03-26 10:29 pm (UTC)Googling "Ava Grace" (with quotation marks, to only return results that had those names in that order) returns over 34,000 results.
"Ava Sophia" is still under 2000, so not too shabby. Even given that Grace seems to have hit its peak and be finally wearing out its welcome (as shown on the Name Voyager (http://www.babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html)) and that Sophia is still on a very steep upward climb, you'd probably be okay. Too bad middles aren't documented somewhere!

Date: 2008-03-27 02:38 am (UTC)I live in a pretty small-ish town and I haven't heard of an Ava yet. My sister only has an Emma in her class and my other little cousins don't have any of the other names in their classes. So it won't be so bad around here.

Date: 2008-03-26 10:50 pm (UTC)This is all coming from an Emily, so believe me, I know how it feels to have the same name as everybody else. It, quite plainly, sucks. I can't stress this enough. I've gone through my life so far feeling like my name isn't my own, and I hate that. Don't do that to your child.
Those are all beautiful names that you picked, and I guess that's sort of the problem. A lot of other people think those are beautiful names too.
Please, I don't want to sound pushy, like I'm trying to tell you what to name your child or anything, but really, don't give your daughter a popular name like the ones you've picked. I know I probably sound like a huge bitch right now, I'm sorry, but having a common name has very negatively impacted my life, and I don't want anyone else to go through that.
Just, please, try and mull over what I've said. Congrats on the new baby, though!

Date: 2008-03-27 02:41 am (UTC)I just like them because they're simple and cute. And it'll be easy for my parents to pronounce. My mom calls my little cousin Tyler when her name is Taylor. LOL.
