i actually like adora, audra, and samaire as a middle name.

lux sylva ryan? (although i'm even really iffy, because of the ryan part... too many similar sounds.)

lux luna ryan?

lux ariel ryan?

lux ariane ryan?

is ryan your surname? for my taste, it's not working in there. i like the name lux pretty well, but ryan is making it difficult to pair with a middle name. :(

JMO, not meant to offend!

no, i totally know what you mean!

would you be against having your child use your last name instead, or does it sound even worse?

Lux reminds me of the vacuum cleaner. Shmeh.

Makayla?
Amelia?
Helena? (Huh-lay-nah)
Delaney?

I think a three-syllable middle name would be ideal.

JMO

I wasn't too big on Lux until I looked up the meaning.

Lux = light

I liked it alittle bit more than. The only problem I have is all the "deLUXe" jokes that will follow. Are you really set on Lux? If it's the meaning you could always go with a different name that means the same. A really similar name is Luz. Which is Spanish for light
There is also:

Luminita= Romanian (little light)
Orah= Hebrew

If I was dead set on Lux I would pair it with something ultra feminine;

Lux Isabel
Lux Elizabeth or Lux Elsabet
Lux Serenity
Lux Gweneth

Personally I would stay away from Lux Audra, it could be to easily turned into Ultra Deluxe.

i am romanian. naming your child Luminita (which is pronounced 'loo-muh-neetz-uh) would be like naming your child lightbulb in english.

:(

well hey, lux was the most awesome character in The Virgin Suicides, so that makes it better. :)

Could it be a middle name instead of a first?

Samaire Lux Ryan sounds really nice together.

Don't name your baby after soap.

Are you absolutely set on it as the first name? Because I would agree that it would sound better as a middle name, like someone said Samaire Lux. And then it would also get rid of the problem of all the jokes that could be made out of it. But if you really want it as a first name, I would choose something more feminine for the middle name, Harper, Finley, Tierney - I dislike how the three names go together.

I'm not big on Lux as a first name.

If it were to be used as a middle name, I'd pick:
Audra Lux
Samaire Lux

Wasn't the name Lux the nickname of the character in Virgin Suicides? Perhaps you could use it that way as well.

I think anything with Lu or Lou in it would work for a formal name - Lucy, Lucinda, Louisa, etc.

Lux Meredith Ryan.
The r's sound pretty together.

I love your choices!

I love the name Lux, but i agree its tough to find a middle name.

From your choices, Harper, FInley and Tierney are my favorite...

Lux Harper Ryan
Lux Tierney Ryan
Lux Finley RYan

Thats my favorites order :)

I love the name Lux, but I think a longer middle name with more syllables would be best, since the first and last are short.

Just out of curiosity did you get the name from The Virgin Suicides? That was the first (and only) place I heard it and I fell in love with it. And Luxie is a cute nickname ;)

I like Lux Olivia.

Lux is a nickname for "Lucy"

its a cute name, dont let people talk you out of it. i think something long and traditional (elizabeth, katharine, etc) would suit it best. i voted for harper because thought it sounded the nicest from what was there to choose from.

I LOVE the name Lux. I dunno if I'd ever have the guts to use it though. I would pair it with a very feminine and long middle name.

[identity profile] krazyhippie.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
finley adora or harper

[identity profile] merzy.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
what if you had a diffrent first name then Lux Ryan but have her go Lux

We have really similar taste in names. I love the name Lux (obviously), and am planning on calling mine (if baby's a girl) Harper. It's a family name.

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2006-01-10 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
When I saw that you were considering Lux as a first name, I was stunned, since I know it too well to be a brand of soap and other things as well. It really sounds like brand name to me.
However I haven't seen the virgin suicides and you are obviously in love with the name, perhaps where you come from it isn't known as well as a brand name, because I had never heard of it as a person's name before.
So since you've decided to go with it, I'd recommend that it goes best with a 3-syllable middle name which is why I voted for Adora

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2006-01-10 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
PS- my name (Claire) also means light
