Date: 2008-03-18 08:01 pm (UTC)As for middle names for Evan, I like Caleb the best, but I also think Evan Riley sounds really nice. I wouldn't go with Landon or Jordan (or especially Jordyn, which looks totally messed up) because they end too similarly.

Evan Riley is okay, but I'm not fond of Riley
Evan Jordan is nice (when it's spelled with an a instead of a y!)

Date: 2008-03-18 08:16 pm (UTC)I like Evan with Riley, but not Landon or Jordan, because of the double -an sound.

Date: 2008-03-18 10:35 pm (UTC)if you have a unusual name for your child you have to proof that somebody on earth is already walking around with this name
and if the name is ok and will not embarrass the kid it will be allowed
in some cases you need a "normal" and/or "should clearly indicate the gender" name
e.g. its not allowed to name your babygirl jagger joseph because joseph is a boys name,....you would need to add a clearly indicated girls name
or you couldnt call your kid TREE
or D´lilah .. you must choose something like delilah
"German law allows parents a great variety of given names so that in almost all cases the given names can be registered in the German documents. However, some restrictions apply. German law does not permit first names that are considered arbitrary, scandalous, offensive, incomprehensible or simply not a first name. In particular, family names cannot be chosen as first names (unless they exist as first names as well). Additions like "junior" or "III" (the Third) cannot be officially filed as part of the name. "
and if its not allowed to take the name you choose you can go to court
in this case it isnt allowed as it sounds like a cocktail and shooter is nothing good esp in combination with manhattan..it reminds on 9.11. or an ego-shooter ...
its the same as in nz when parents wanted to name their child 4real ;)
you are right both names end with "an" ..mhm...caleb and riley is my fave too ^^

Date: 2008-03-18 10:29 pm (UTC)By German law, a child's name has to meet two conditions: (1) it must reflect the sex of the child, and (2) it must not endanger the 'well-being of the child.'
