Date: 2008-03-13 07:30 pm (UTC)Cedric, however, is my #1 boy's pick and has been #1 in the past. I would very, very seriously consider using it. Freya is also on my girls list, though maybe down around #10 or so, so not one I'll likely use, but I do love it a lot.

Date: 2008-03-13 07:38 pm (UTC)I like both Cedric and Freya, but I keep thinking of Cedric Diggory, and I'm not sure I really like Freya enough to use. I guess I can always put it on the list, since we aren't going to name the baby until it's born.

Date: 2008-03-13 08:43 pm (UTC)The whole Cedric Diggory thing annoys me since Cedric has been a favorite since before the Harry Potter books were even written. It seems to be an association that is already fading a little bit though. The other comments I get are about Cedric the Entertainer who I am only vaguely familiar with. I don't really see a comedian as that big of a negative though.
Freya is just cool because we don't see it a lot (where I am in the US anyway). I would be so, so much more intrigued to meet a child named Freya than a child named Ava or Olivia or Isabelle. And I think it's pretty too. Just my opinion though.

Cedric hmm prn SEE-drik? or Say-DREEK like in french (Cédric) ?
Freya, nope. Way too new pagan. I've also haven't ever been able to figure out how it's pronounced. I want to say Fray-ah, but I guess it's wrong.

Freya actually sounds pretty good with our last name--Halvorsen--and Hubby is very into Norse history and mythology. But I dunno.

Date: 2008-03-13 07:58 pm (UTC)i like cedric too, except for the harry potter association.
i don't really like luther, but it's not awful. it reminds me of martin luther king jr (not that that's a bad assication) and some computer game i played with i was little that involved a fish named luther. and lutherans. and the word loser, just because it sounds similar.

Date: 2008-03-13 08:15 pm (UTC)Thanks for the input on Luther. Luther=loser hadn't crossed my mind, and that's definitely something to consider!

Date: 2008-03-13 09:03 pm (UTC)With Luther, my first association is Martin Luther, but then almost immediately afterwards I think of Luther Vandross. I'm Lutheran myself, and there was actually a boy named Luther a few years ahead of me at Sunday School ... it suited him really well, but I can't imagine a lot of other people being able to pull it off.
