Mar. 3rd, 2008 07:32 pmMy fiance and I are both very Irish and want to play it safe and name our future kids with Irish names(With the exception of Ava, it's my favorite girl's name.) My name's Shannon.
With that being said:
Siobhan.
pronounced like Chevonne. or shivawn
WDYT?
ETA:
My dad told me this is what he originally wanted to name me but knew that no one here would know how to say/spell it and he's right off the boat from Belfast, so I already knew all about that.
I really like it, I just don't know if I'd really use it and a middle name?
ETA again:
the future children's last name will be Crosbie

Date: 2008-03-04 02:40 pm (UTC)That's because it's not English. It makes perfect sense in Irish!

I still see it as being a BIG problem.

Date: 2008-03-04 02:59 am (UTC)Irish names are pretty. I like Bridget, Molly, Meaghan... my husband is Irish and looks it. I'm Italian and... lol don't look it.

Date: 2008-03-04 03:39 am (UTC)It's WAY better than some of the made up names of other children that your child(ren) with be growing up with, in my opinion.

Date: 2008-03-04 04:12 am (UTC)I think with the last name Crosbie, though, Siobhan sounds better as a middle name.

Date: 2008-03-04 04:26 am (UTC)She said it as Sha-vaun so i guess the Shivawn pn is what I am thinking of. I'd def go with that.

Date: 2008-03-04 05:02 am (UTC)I really want to go with the Irish name Egan. It's my mother's maiden name and I really like it.

Date: 2008-03-04 02:03 pm (UTC)How about Sinead? It's a little easier to "get". Or Aislinn, Brigid, Eileen, Deirdre, Fiana, Fiona, Fiara, Maeve, or Tara?
