German Names
Mar. 3rd, 2008 03:07 pmI noticed that most of my favorite names are German. So I went to www.babynamesworld.com and did an origin search for German/Germanic names, and made a list of the ones I really like. I found a ton of girls names, not very many boys names. Also, if there's a name that I like (like Isabelle for example), and it was listed but I didn't like the German spelling (Isabell), I didn't put it on my list.
The names that were already my favorites, that inspired this search, are in bold.
GIRLS
Adelai
Adelaide
Alice
Allison
Amelia
Annelise
Arietta
Aubrey [It's listed as unisex name, but I only like it for girls]
Ava
Aveline
Caroline
Charlotte
Elodie
Emmaline/Emmeline
Evelyn
Genevieve
Harriet
Hattie [I would only use it as a nickname, but it's listed as a name on its own]
Heidi
Henrietta
Lorelai
Lottie [I would only use it as a nickname, but it's listed as a name on its own]
Lydia
Matilda
True
BOYS
Charles
Emery
Henry
Keifer
Miles
William

Second Edit: A lot of these names are listed under other origins AS WELL, but according to www.babynamesworld.com, they're all German or Germanic, which are not the same. :]
Also, I'm not trying to argue a case here, I'm just stating that this particular source told me these names can be traced to German OR Germanic. If you disagree with my source, that's fine.
