I love the nickname Lane/Laine for a boy or a girl. Alas, we have plenty of boy names picked out already, so I'd love to hear what names for a girl you could take Lane/Laine from as a nickname (besides Elaine and its variants).

Also, just out of curiosity, which spelling do you prefer for a girl?

I like the name Laine on a girl, with that spelling. Not so much for a boy, though.

I vote for Helena- I love that name, and that song. :O
