I wouldn't recommend Aery, it sounds kinda pompous and could be turned into something to tease with very easily. Same with Isodore. Also not big on Cairo, but I like ophelia for a middle name. If I had to pick a favorites for each, I'd say, Julian, Elijah, Cole, Mikhail for boys, and Ophelia, Myra, Colette, Claudia for girls. (not in that order)

most of them sound sort of pompous, i think, but i figure they're also sort of...distinguished. Like it's fairly unlikely that they'll run into schoolmates with the same name very often.

There's always a worry about teasing, but honestly, whether their name is alice or aeary, they're going to be teased over something, and i'd rather be told my name is stupid than that my face is ugly. I also try to keep in mind that just because you're teased over something as a child doesn't ruin your life or even have much effect on it at all. Thinking back, *i* was teased for having a less-than-common name...and i think this is the first time i've even thought of it since i was in the 3rd grade. At this point, i'm glad i was given a name that's just a wee bit different.

May not count for anything, but that's the best defense i can cook up for naming kids weird things.
