I've been lurking for a while but I'm trying to procrastinate so I thought I'd post.

When I hav a child I plan on naming it either Anne or John. Maybe William. If I had another girl she'd be Elizabeth.

I tell people this and they look at me like I'm crazy and then tell me the kid will hate me for giving it such a "horrible" name.

What gives? If I had to chose between being Rylee Sestina or Anne, I think I'd thank my mother every day for the latter.

I honestly agree. People are giving their children names like Mikayla, Kaitlyn, Dylin, etc so I think naming your child Anne would actually give her less of a common name. I've always been partial to John, it's a very pleasant sounding name.
