[identity profile] cathkitten.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I've been lurking for a while but I'm trying to procrastinate so I thought I'd post.

When I hav a child I plan on naming it either Anne or John. Maybe William. If I had another girl she'd be Elizabeth.

I tell people this and they look at me like I'm crazy and then tell me the kid will hate me for giving it such a "horrible" name.

What gives? If I had to chose between being Rylee Sestina or Anne, I think I'd thank my mother every day for the latter.

Yay, we have the same name!

I used to be torn on the C/K issue, wondering if my loving the K didn't make me some sort of trendy version...but really, I figure they've been peacefully coexisting for so long that it doesn't EFFING matter.

Besides, it originates from the greek word for "pure", and when greek translates into Roman letters, K and C are pretty much interchangable. See: Cassandra/Kassandra, Calypso/Kalypso. So really, they're equally acceptable from an etymological/academic perspective.

Also, I meant to type VIII, but i just...stopped one I short. Stupid numerals!

But yeah, Katherine of Aragon too! (But hey, you get Catherine Parr...and she got executed, so that basically rocks.)

when I was in London Parliament and Tower of London, everywhere I would turn they spelled those Katherine wives differently. The Docks of St. Katharine are with an A!

But I am Katharine with an A! I love my name. and I think my spelling is the most unusual. it always trips people up. But Katharine is SO strong. I wanted to name a daughter after me, and call her Kate. but we are making the first boy a jr, so we can have Katharine Jr AND Andrew Jr. that would be weird!
