My husband and I are expecting our second child, another girl, at the end of May. Unlike with our first baby, we’ve had one hell of a time coming up with a name. My dad, with his weird sense of humor, got tired of us changing our minds and decided to dub the baby George. We have recently settled on a name, but we’re keeping it under wraps, so George has stuck. It’s also spread. Family and friends all call her George. We don’t mind, we think it’s kind of funny, and we don’t think there will be any trouble transitioning to her actual name when she arrives. So, did you all have any silly or funny names for your babies before they were born? My parents called me Baby Huey. I think that’s kind of cute too, and they didn’t seem to have any trouble transitioning to calling me Jennifer after I arrived. I think their biggest issue was that I was supposed to be Steven. Oops. LOL.

So I don't think I've posted this before but if I have, forgive me - It's just that terrible.

My mom reminded me about a lady we know whose name is Hughnie which in and of itself isn't bad, but the origins of the name are pretty awful.  So she has older sisters, several of them, and her dad always wanted a boy to name after himself(Hugh), but her mom said "only one more baby!" so he pinned all of his hopes on the baby being a boy.  Well, obviously she wasn't, so he named her Hughnie, which in their language means "Not Hugh." As in "you're not the son I wanted."

My mother thinks this is funny, and while I kind of agree I also think it's pretty messed up.

(I should edit: she's in her 50's now, and has a pretty good sense of humor about it.)

My supervisor and I got into a debate: How do you pronounce Tania?

Two of my friends had babies this week! Or well, I guess one of them was last week. (15th and 19th)

The one born on the 19th is named Karl. Their other option was Felix and they said they needed to see the baby before deciding. He does sort of look like a Karl!

And the other baby is still nameless. His siblings are Sebastian, Thea and Savannah, What would you guys suggest? (I personally think the kid looks like a Julian, but I can't really post the picture here since I don't have permission from the parents :) )
