Bad nickname

I just found out via facebook that a guy a grew up with just had his second child, a daughter, named Serafina Rose. Very cute, right? UNTIL I was reading through all of his congratulation comments where he replies to one of them that "Fifi" can't wait to meet them. Fifi is a a name for a dog, agreed?

So I'm vaguely friends with a girl who has gone by Mary the whole time I've known her.  I was rather surprised to receive a wedding invitation from her, and even more surprised to find out her full name:

Marie-Elysabelle Victorianne Antoinietta Hyphenated-LastName

Even better is the fact her fiancé's name is Tom.  Not Thomas or variant, just Tom, no middle name.  When I found out his family is Czech, I thought it would be full of cool names but alas, his brothers are Ivan and Peter, and his sister is Celinda.

This also reminded me that my friend Michael is also Czech, and his sister's name is Tinka.  Apparently it's a nickname for Christina, but they named her the nickname instead.
