Quick update

I posted recently about my friend's upcoming baby girl. Hadassa. Except now she's spelling it differently because she thinks it sounds better with an e there, and to avoid having "ass" in the middle. Also a middle name!

So her daughter's name is going to be Hadessah Rae.

Nun names. Yes, really.

Today, in my "Writing About Place" class (I'm a college senior), we went walking to a nearby cemetery where the only people buried there are Catholic nuns.  Needless to say, I couldn't help noticing the names.  Their deaths go back to the early 1930s and lead up to the present, and most of them were very old when they died (at least two were 99 and many were around or close to 90).  Keep in mind that in quite a few orders, nuns can't choose their names.
