What names do you love that you can't or won't consider because it just doesn't work with your last name?

For me it's:
Alice
Lucy
Sylvia

Silas
Simon
Jonas

My last name is 2 syllables that starts and ends in S.
I'm sure I can't be the only one with a list of loved, but unuseable names!

I'm not sure which order these go in, but...

Hillary
Brooke
Camille
Adrienne

these women would all be in their 50's by now, since one of them was a high school friend of my mom's. my mom has mentioned them often, how much she loved the names. she even drew inspiration from them (my name is Adrienne)! I like them all except, not so much Brooke, but I think it goes well with the rest so I'm not complaining.

Viven

I encountered an unusual name at work the other day - Viven. At first I thought it was a misspelling but the woman confirmed it as correct. It's pronounced pretty much like Vivian, but without the ee sound in the middle. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

What do you think?

I will say it upfront... I like sort of 'masculine' names for girls, names usually ave to be able to be pronounced in French, English and Spanish (but sometimes I overlook that because I just like the name). My taste is a bit all over the place and I like both very classical and some out there names =)

Boys (they is not in order though, they change around a lot):

Apollo
Achilles
Ares
Julian/Jude
Padric
Rowan
Rordan - Rory
Gawain/Gavin
Ethan
Aitor
Paul
Lennon
Hammet

some combo ideas:

Hammet Ares, Ethan Gawain, Ethan Gavin, Rowan Padric, Aitor Julian (nn Jude), Julian Aitor (nn Jude), Rordan Achilles/Apollo... hmm the rest I have no idea how to combine though and these are just random ideas that come to me usually in class.

Girls:

Antares
Elena - this is for sure my first daughter's, if I were to have one, middle name as it's a family tradition.
Rhiannon
Vega
Lyra
Mia
Damien - biggest guilty pleasure
Mary
Alice
Alcyone - love this so much
Lani/Noelani
Isobel/Isabel
Elyse/Eloisa - my middle name that I might give a second daughter.
Eve/Evelyn
Erin
Ione
Lucia/Lucy

I obviously like Greek Mythology, The Beatles, Constellations, Classic English and Irish names... so it's a bit all over the place but since I don't think I'll have 12 kids I think I can mix and match xD

So! Let me have some opinions!

This or That? )

My on-again-off-again boyfriend and I were randomly discussing baby names the other day. I told him I love Emily for a girl, and he said he'd never thought about it, but really likes it. I suggested Victoria as a potential middle name, and he said he didn't care for it. So, I told him to think of something. In my head, I have this perfect middle name, but I don't say it out loud. Until the first thing he says is the very name I've never told anyone that I love, but have secretly always wanted to use for a middle name. Faye (It was my great-grandmother's maiden name, and I always thought it would make such a lovely middle name, being simple, but also being a family name. He said he didn't know what made him think of it, but it just felt right). So, if at some point we ever end up on-again for the long run and have a daughter, she will be Emily Faye. Thoughts?

Also, we're pretty set on either Seth Gregory or Gregory Seth for a little boy. Which sounds better? (ETA: Gregory is my father's middle name as well as my oldest brother's middle name. Seth, we heard on some bible show on the History Channel, and both kind of looked at each other. He was like "I like that for a boy." I was like "Yeah. Definitely.")
