Viven

I encountered an unusual name at work the other day - Viven. At first I thought it was a misspelling but the woman confirmed it as correct. It's pronounced pretty much like Vivian, but without the ee sound in the middle. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

What do you think?

I kind of like it but it seems cruel to name your child something that will be a pain to correct the rest of her life.

Hmmm. It's not horrible, but I don't really care for it. It sounds like she made it up. I much prefer Vivian.

I love Vivian/Vivien. This is strange to me.

"Viven" just looks like someone misspelled "Vixen," not "Vivien." That was my first thought, anyway.

Exactly, it looks misspelled. And I don't see how they think that "viven" could be pronounced that way, it should be vi-ven.

I actually like it, but I'm a tad biased.
Viven was actually my Great-great-great-great Grandfather's name. However, when his son was born they gave him the middle name of Vivian.

I don't like it; I don't like the sound and it looks misspelled.
(I'm not a fan of Vivian either.)

It looks misspelled. I'd never guess it was pronounced just like Vivian.

I'd never use it. It's a conjugated version of the verb "to live" in Spanish; "[they] live". I'd just wonder "who lives where now?" every time I heard it.

HOWEVER, if I try not to think about that, I don't think it sounds bad as a name.

I kinda like it... if it was pronounced as spelled - Viv-en. It's interesting...
