Male or female?

Good or bad?

Nickname? Or, full name?

I don't know how I feel about it.

Hey all! I was watching House and the patient's name was Jackson. For some reason, I thought it might be spelled 'Jaxson' or 'Jaxon'. Like, 'Jackson' was not a possibility in my head. Which was weird.

But anyway, what do you think of the alternative spellings? Love 'em, hate 'em? It's just curiosity. I'm not planning on naming my future boy that or anything. ;P

At a Rite Aid, my cashier's name was "Merrilda". White female, over 60.

At a Chili's, my waitress's name was Avian. White female, probably in her early 20's.

I dislike both. WDYT?

Last night I was watching videos on YouTube about baby sign language. I came across one little girl named Fireese, nickname Reese.

WDYT? I sort of like it, but I think that's only because it reminds me of Firenze (a centaur) in Harry Potter. I'd never use it for my own kid, though.

ETA: I know Fireese isn't pronounced like Firenze. That's just what it reminded me of at first glance.

I was researching my family tree and found this gem: Grayce.  She was born in 1896.  Somehow, I thought they stayed away from creative spellings back then.  But her parents must have liked it or something.  She also named her daughter Grayce (born in 1929).

Who else is interested in names used in the past/their ancestor's names? My grandmother published a book recently after doing years and years of researching about my family's history and recently gave me a copy. Here are a few- there are a couple that I like

Names, including year of birth if known.. none of these people were born later than 1940 ish )

So I was looking through my journal and seeing the baby names and I realized I have literally 3 times as many girls names as I do boys. WOW. Anyone else have this type of problem? Boys names are really touchy for me, I'm very particular about them. And also do you have any boys names that you REALLY like? Tell me them!
