People wouldn't call a young Peter 'Pete' nowadays, would they? Because I love Peter but HATE Pete.

What names do you love but really dislike a nickname for it? Would you hesitate to use them because of this?

Here's the third round! There was one tie between Artemas and Bartholomew. Enjoy!

Hey there! I always love your input, so I am going to try this again. I found out that I am having a baby girl and already have two boys - Leo Kalani and Noah Kapono. We are thinking either Irie (eye-ree) or Lily for her first name with possibly one of the following middle names: Keona (kay-oh-nuh) Hawaiian for God's gracious gift, Keani (kay-ah-nee) Hawaiian for the cool breeze. What do you think? I am open to any other suggestions. Thanks!

my mom works in a Catholic goods store, so people often come in to buy cards or medals of the same saints as their kids names or what not.. she comes across a lot of names at work.

so the other day, a lady comes in with two kids, a boy and a girl, and buys saint Nicholas and saint Cecelia medals. my mom comments on Cecelia's name, how nice it is (it was either that or Adrienne for me, I'm glad I got Adrienne, I think Cecelia is a bit pretentious) and her mom pipes up "yeah, but I didn't want her to be like everyone else, so I spelled it Cecelya!"

so. instead of NOT being like everyone else, and having a somewhat uncommon name like Cecelia, she gets to be JUST like everyone else, and have an unnecessary Y in the midst of her misspelled name. yay.

I kind of wonder if Nicholas was spelled Nicholys. being a much more common name than Cecelia, you know?

Some names I came across at work today:

Pasha (prn. like Tasha but with a P)
Baron
Herica (prn. like Erica)

WDYT? Pasha reminds me of one of the characters in Wee Sing in Sillyville which I loved as a kid. Not really a fan of any of them though.

WDYT of the names Nico and Rose Bailey for girls?

Nico is personally my favourite name of all time, for some reason. I know it's supposed to be a guy's name, but it really appears more unisex to me for some reason.
And what are some surnames that flows with it? I personally like Nico Olivia and Nico Ashley. <:

Rose Bailey just popped up when I was watching TV, and I think it's a pretty name but I don't really know how to feel about it. I wouldn't use it, it's not my style.

All righty, in honor of the 4th of July I decided to do a patriotic-themed poll!

[Poll #1424472]
I figure the worst last names are obviously Bush, Hoover and Polk. /o:;

What could Mena be a nickname for?
I used to know a little girl who went by Mena, as a nn for Sabrina, which I kind of like. But is there anything else?

Also, what do you think of the nn Poppy for Penelope? (Someone off this community actually suggestedd this!) I also like Nellie, but Poppy is very cute too!
