What could Mena be a nickname for?
I used to know a little girl who went by Mena, as a nn for Sabrina, which I kind of like. But is there anything else?

Also, what do you think of the nn Poppy for Penelope? (Someone off this community actually suggestedd this!) I also like Nellie, but Poppy is very cute too!

I love the nn Poppy! In fact, I love Poppy as a name too. I prefer it to Nellie, to be honest.

In Dracula the character Mina's full name is Wilhelmina.

I was going to repeat Wilhelmina and Amina. Amina is one of my favorites. I think my husband's ignored it long enough to warrant a veto, though.

I've never thought of Poppy as anickname for Penelope. I'd use Penny, but Poppy works, and is very cute.

I'm pretty convinced that Mena is a name on its own, so I have no idea what name it would be short for.

Philomena!

Poppy is an alright nn for Penelope. But I prefer Nell or Penny over it. Poppy is terribly cutesy, but I sometimes have a thing for extremely cutesy nicknames.

i think i was probably the one who suggested it. i remember being shocked that no one seemed to know it was a nn for penelope.

i had a good friend in college named penelope and her family had always called her poppy. i LOVE it. i hate the nickname penny, it sounds like a dogs name to me. nell and nellie are very cute too, but poppy is my favorite.
