The only boy names my husband and I agree on right now:

Jeffrey (Jeff)
Calvin
Robert (My grandpa's name and likely to be used as the middle.)
Keith
Dexter (Dex)

Our first child is Benjamin Thomas.

Thoughts?

If it's a girl her name will be Samantha. Not sure on middle name yet. The top choices are Vivian, Ruth, and Jane. (All names of grandmothers.)

A colleague at work had twins yesterday!

Joseph James
Matilda Jane

I love James and Matilda. Joseph and Jane I'm slightly bleurgh about.

Weirdly, it's the second set of twins in our editorial dept this year. THe first boy-girl twins were:

Stanley Ozzie Tough
Scarlett Emily Willow

The girl's name is lovely, but we were all a bit bemused by the boy's name. Tough? Maybe it's a maiden/family name.

What names do you just not 'get'?

I'm not necessarily talking about names that are popular in the world as a whole, but more within this community. For example, I always see people here loving the name Violet, and although I think it's pretty, I don't get why it's so popular. Another is Penelope. I cannot understand the love for that name.

What names do everyone seem to love here that you don't?

Kari Byron of Mythbusters and husband had their baby. A girl named Stella.

I like it, but it's kind of overused...idk I've just been hearing it a lot lately. WDYT?

So to twist it around... what names do you really like, that most other people just don't? Are you stuck on an -ayden name? Is one of the Jon and Kate sextuplets sporting one of your favorites? Are you considering that old-lady moniker for your newborn?

Are you going to use your name no matter what people say?

My answers under the cut... )

What girl names do you think go well with Lola?

And what do you think of the name Lola?

At first I hated the name, it reminded me of a stripper. Not a particular one, there are just certain names that I think fall into a category like "stripper or extremely sexy/sexual lady". (Think Phoenix, Chastity, Lola, etc.)

Anyway, the more I think about it the more I like it and I hate to admit that I now have a full fledged love for the name, but I can't use it because its already been used in my family.
