Lola

What girl names do you think go well with Lola?

And what do you think of the name Lola?

At first I hated the name, it reminded me of a stripper. Not a particular one, there are just certain names that I think fall into a category like "stripper or extremely sexy/sexual lady". (Think Phoenix, Chastity, Lola, etc.)

Anyway, the more I think about it the more I like it and I hate to admit that I now have a full fledged love for the name, but I can't use it because its already been used in my family.

My husband just came up behind me, peered over my shoulder at your post, and started singing the Lola song.

I really like the name Lola, but then I always think of how it means "grandmother" in Tagalog.

I like Lola as a nickname. I don't think it's good as a given name, because I don't think it grows on a girl.

My great-aunt's name was Lola. If this helps, her siblings were: Melvin (my grandfather), William/Bill, Betty, Wesley.

It reminds me of "Copacabana" by Barry Manilow or, obviously, "Lola" by The Kinks.

Being named after a song is one thing, like in my case "Melissa" by The Allman Brothers, it's a flattering song. But I used to be roommates with a Roxanne. She hated being associated with the Police song- and she wasn't even named after it.

I think it's a pretty name but I'd use it on a pet or something- my best friend named one of his cats Lola!

I think Lola is fine as a nickname, not a full name. It's certainly better than Chastity (or even worse, Chasity).

I myself cannot use it for personal reasons. Least of them being the Kinks song.

I think Lola is cute, but it sounds so posh. I think it'd be right at home with those kind of girls' names like Ruby, Lucy, Millie, and Poppy.

I like the sound of it a lot, when I can turn the song off in my head! but I wouldn't use it on its own - to me it's a diminutive eg for Dolores or Lauren.

I like it but I agree, I see the stripper thing too when I think about it.
