Two note worthy names from work recently:

Brendan~for a 2 year old girl. "Yeah, it's Brenda, with an 'N,'" says Mom.

Stryker~4 year old boy. Every time I see this name I think about that 80's band Stryper and wonder "why oh why?"

WDYT?

How do you feel about the name Miguel?

My boyfriend has "decided" that this is what he wants to name our baby boy (due in April) and, while I don't hate it, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it.

He said that I can have free reign over the middle name and, since my daughter has a family middle name, I would like him to have one as well but the only male names in my family are Michael (Miguel Michael, uh, no) and Eric - which I'm not really fond of.

So, does anyone have any middle name suggestions to go with Miguel?

so im due in 2ish weeks, and the father of the baby and i cant agree on names.

we're not together and hes not sure yet how much involvement he will have, so i feel like i should just go with what i want? does that sound reasonable? i have been open to suggestions from him the whole time, but his suggestions are pretty damn ugly and he just pulls them from no where, they mean nothing to him. anyway, im about 90% sure on...

Finn Rafferty Wolfe

(Wolfe is my last name, his is Grant - which i have suggested we use, but he doesn't seem interested, and my name is better anyway hehe)

what do people think?

The name Finn means alot to me because my dad who passed away when i was 3 used to call my brother that as a nick name, even though his name is David. no one has called him Finn since he was about 10, so there wouldn't be any confusion etc. i just feel like it would be a nice way to honor my dad and also my brother (who has been an awesome male influence in my life)

so bring on the opinions.........?

I’ve been working on my family tree for roughly 10 years now- people kept having babies, then I’d have to redraw, then I just went on a boycott until right before the 15th family reunion around Christmas.  I figured I’d post the names by generation just because it’s interesting to see the “cultural” shift as time went by and as my family moved from one country to another (I’m 1st generation U.S. on my this side).

What are possibile nicknames for Joshua? (besides Josh)
Does Joey sound reasonable, considering here in Italy it would be pronounced JAW-ee, not JOE-ee? That way it shares the same sound as Joshua.

What nicknames can you think of? No matter how out there, I'd like to hear it
And what did/do the Joshua's you know go by? :)

TIA!

... (hopefully) going to be Dannon Michael MacDonald. Thoughts?

I'm 32 weeks pregnant with our first son who will join my daughter Ashlyn Hope.
The only thing we're really unsure of will be the spelling of Dannon. I like it as is, hubby thinks it should be spelled differently than the yogurt brand.

Dannon
Dannan
Dannen
Dannin

We like that throughout different stages of his life he can be called Danny, Dan or Dannon. Gives us some nickname options, as well as going for the full name when we need to get his attention (lol) and his own choices for what he would like to go by as he grows and in a professional life.

Having a name that feels strong, yet is not very popular or common was important to me in choosing a name.

I found this blog online. This baby is named Liviana. The baby had some problems at birth, but is thankfully doing a lot better. I do think the name is related to Olivia. I like that name. I met a girl on a train named Olivia, and I thought Oliviana would be pretty. It maybe had too many syllables though?

I recently also heard of Viviana, which I also think is pretty.

A week after their second daughter's birth, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have announced her name, Garner's reps tell PEOPLE exclusively.

It is Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck.

The baby was born Jan. 6 in Los Angeles. Garner and Affleck, both 36, are also parents to daughter Violet, 3.

While no explanation was offered for the name, or if she was named for anyone, one Web site specializing in the origin of names refers to Seraphina as "derived from the Biblical word 'seraphim,' which was Hebrew in origin and meant 'fiery ones.' "

Source: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20252295,00.html

ETA: I totally read it at first (on a different site) as "Rose Elizabeth". And I thought that it went well with Violet Anne even if it was a little matchy with the two flower names and then a really classic middle name. I don't like Seraphina. It looks misspelled to me for some reason.

ETA 2 - Electric Boogaloo: If they had rearranged the middle names it would've made the nickname "Sera" work both from her first name and the initials. Thoughts on that?

MEXICO CITY (AP) — It's a boy for Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal and Argentine actress Dolores Fonzi.

Garcia Bernal's spokeswoman Icunacury Acosta says the baby is named Lazaro. He was born Thursday in Madrid, Spain.

Acosta said in a statement Monday that the new parents and baby are "very happy, tired and in excellent health."

Garcia Bernal became an international star with the movie "Amores Perros." He also appeared in "The Motorcycle Diaries" and "Babel."

He may soon be arranging play dates with his lifelong friend, Mexican actor Diego Luna. Luna became a dad in August when his wife, Camila Sodi, gave birth to a boy.

Garcia Bernal and Luna appear together in the movies "Y Tu Mama Tambien" and "Rudo y Cursi."

Congrats to them! So, WDYT about the name? I've never heard of it before... Btw, Diego Luna's son is called Jerónimo :>)
