Eleanor Louise, Henry Isaac, and Amelia Ruth.

My last poll ended up with it being a tie between Amelia Ruth and Amelia Elise, but the middle name Ruth won our hearts and we officially decided on it. The "Ruth Richards" (our last name) part will be a bit tricky, but we decided that Ruth just fit better with our other names rather than Elise.

Thoughts?

Wow, that is so interesting that you can tell like that! I think all the names are lovely.

That makes sense. I have a lot of trouble understanding how people can pick babies' names way in advance of the babies, because to me, it's not about if you like the name or not, it's primarily about how the name fits the baby (and I think you can get a good sense of that pregnant).

I'm baffled by people who have had their childrens' names set in stone from the time they're 15 years old. Sure, there have always been names I liked or disliked or thought would be good to use, but it wasn't until I was about halfway through pregnancy that we really started trying to match a name with the baby. (And in our case, we still couldn't- Catherine wasn't named until about 18 hours after she was born).

So yeah, that makes a lot of sense to me.

To me, the baby grows into the name. I don't feel I need to find a name to "fit" a baby. I'm Claire, but I'm nothing like the Claire on Heroes, so does that make me not like a Claire? I don't get it. The names don't have to fit the baby...you will come to associate whatever name you choose with your child.

See, I have a hard time understanding how the baby can or can't fit a name. I mean, can you really tell so much about a person within the first 18-24 hours or their life that you can decide what name will best suit them forever? I always figured the baby grew into the name.

Ooh, I definitely prefer Elle to Nora, just if nicknames mean anything to you. Nora sounds like its own name to me, so I never let people call me that.
