Some of my favorite names are found in the books of Lucy Maud Montgomery, so I thought I'd go through each and list the names. I've bolded the ones I like best!

Anne of Green Gables series:

Anne Shirley
Bertha and Walter (her parents)
Matthew and Marilla (her adoptive family)
Davy and Dora, her sort-of adoptive siblings
Rachel
Gilbert Blythe (her love interest and later, husband)

Her children:
Joyce
James Matthew "Jem"
Walter Cuthbert
Diana "Di"
Anne "Nan"
Shirley (M)
Bertha Marilla "Rilla"

Other characters:
Diana
Fred
Anne Cordelia "Small Anne Cordelia"
Ruby
Jane

Philippa
Priscilla
Jamesina "Jimsie"
Rebecca
Charlotte "Chatty"
Catherine "Kate"
Elizabeth "Little Elizabeth"
Leslie
Josie (not really a friend, but I didn't know where else to put it)
Cornelia
Susan
Jen
Katherine
Ellen
Sophy
Owen
Kenneth
Persis
Royal
Dorothy
Marshall
Mary Martha Ball Moore Vance
Miller
John
Cecilia
Rosemary
Faith
Gerald "Jerry"

I know I've probably left some out, but that's a good list to start on!

I hit gold and found a friend's graduation program, which included just under 300 names... with the middle names included! Some of them are true doozies, I swear. (And all spellings are correct, just to warn you.)  Obviously, this group was born in 1993 and 1994. :)

Any of you used to watch that cooking show called "The Two Fat Ladies"?  Apparently one of the ladies names is really long.  Here it is:  Clarissa Theresa Philomena Aileen Mary Josephine Agnes Elsie Trilby Louise Esmerelda Dickson Wright.

Also I was reminded of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening's kids names the other day and thought their names were somewhat interesting, considering they all only seem to be named after Warren's side but not Annette's.
Kathlyn Elizabeth (Kathlyn is Warren's mother name)
Benjamin Maclean (Maclean is Warren's mother's maiden name)
Isabel Ira Ashley (Ira is Warren's father's name)
Ella Corrine (Corrine is Warren's mother's middle name)

And here are some sib sets I came across on some (MN) politicians websites:
Thor and Rolf
Nicolas, Eleanor and Conrad

I know a married couple, Corey and Sunshine. They are expecting a baby boy in about 5 months. They want to name it Teagan (or Tegan?) Douglas. If it were a girl it would be Korie Vivian.
To be honest, I can't stand Teagan or Tegan and I have only heard it for a girl. It's ugly anyways. I think naming a girl Korie isn't nice either, especially when her father is Corey.

So one of my best friends is due with her first child in a few weeks. They have had a name picked out for a while: Kenley. Now, this isn't my style, but I think it's ok. It's pretty straight forward. It feels familiar, if that makes sense, and it's not too "out there." I also haven't heard it before so there aren't dozens of Kenleys running around. Overall, I considered it a good name.

Then she announced yesterday that they changed the spelling to Kynlee. I wanted to throw up. That looks like Kine-lee to me and immediately puts it in the realm of wtf? spellings. I desperately want to "encourage" her to use the original spelling, but I have no idea what to say!! I don't understand why the change in spelling. I just don't get it. Maybe that would be a good starting point. Just ask why they like the crazy spelling better.

Should I even try to say anything? Am I over reacting? Does anyone else feel driven to save babies from bad names, especially when the (imo) slightly insane mother is a very close friend?

My landlord's two children: Ginuwine (age 10) and Aoaelani (age 4)... I'm sure Aoaelani is just some butchered version of the actual Hawaiian name Aolani, but Ginuwine? Good grief.

I just found out the name of Helena Bonham Carter's baby.

Nell.

I LOVE IT! So cute! It's a form of Helen. Her grandmother is Helene, and her mother is Elena. I like that because they're not all exactly the same, but they're all derivative. WDYT?

Jason James
or Jesse James

James being the middle name.

Just noticing the comments from the Olympic names, so here is a list of the (whole?) Australian swim team for you to comment on -- cos I thought many of them were interesting =D

*Note: there is a prior theread regarding "Jessicah"

I don't know if I've ever posted all the names on my dad's side of the family. All of my grand parents' kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. I can't promise they'll be in order, because I can NEVER remember the correct order I'll do it in the format of:

Children
-Grandchildren (great-grandchildren)

If it is not obvious, I will include [gender]

My grandparents are Lloyd and Margaret

I may be missing some of the great grandkids. I can't keep track of the products of my more 'promiscuous' male cousins )

Oh lord.

I like Charles, Cordelia, Seraphina & Delphine. The others are alright, but I'd much rather see a Florence Emily.
But really, what English Raa's
