L.M. Montgomery is one of my favorites, and her characters have influenced my favorite names quite a bit. I love a good portion of them, but my top L.M.M.-inspired names are currently:

Alexander
Andrew
Beatrice
Cecilia
Damaris (from the short story "The Son of His Mother")
Diana
Emily
Flora
Ford (after Kenneth Ford)
Gilbert
Hazel (Pat's aunt from the Silver Bush series)
Hilda
Ilse
Jack (from the short story "The Price"--he's always called Jacky, which would be cute around the house, but I'd prefer Jack)
Jacob (of the Jacob/St. Clair Donnell/Donnell controversy in Anne of Avonlea)
Jade (I never used to like this name, but I love how Mr. Carpenter calls Emily that in the New Moon books, and I warmed to the name itself)
James (I'd use the nickname Jimmy over Jem, though)
Jane
Juliet
Kenneth
Lewis (Anne's from Anne of Windy Poplars)
May
Noel
Olivia
Owen
Penelope (from the short story "Penelope Struts Her Theories")
Persis
Philippa
Ruby
Sylvia (Marigold's imaginary friend from Magic for Marigold)
Una
Valancy (I wouldn't actually use it, but I love the character so much, I love the name now)
Victoria
Winifred
Zoe ( from the short story "A Commonplace Woman")

I finally read A Tangled Web online a few weeks ago (I've never yet found a copy in a bookstore) and was on the verge of collecting the names and posting them here, they're so interesting. I mean, Pennycuik? Never got around to it, though.

I also love the naming discussion at the beginning of Magic for Marigold, and all the aunts, uncles, cousins, and ancestors that weave in and out of any of the books featuring clannish families.

(Sorry for the repost, I forgot to preview for HTML mistakes first.)

James with the nickname Jem is interesting! I like that. But if I were to name a daughter Gemma...I wouldn't be able to use it anymore ;)

I also like:
Diana
Ruby
Philippa (Pippa!)
Cecilia
Faith
Emily
Juliet
Joseph ("Joe" --> I love that nickname, it's one of the reasons I love Joseph)
Doris
May
Alan
Leander
Edith
Flora
Leah
Clementine
Ella
Hugh
Noel

Yeah, a lot of good names! I used to despise the name Beatrice, but after reading 'The Shadow of the Wind' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon I've come to like Beatriz, and now I don't mind it anymore.
