Interesting:

Lyz
Ruthellen
Marian
Wellington
LaDonna
Carlisle
Pope
Abelardo
Ike
Danah
Gustave

These are the first names of 50-60 year olds. Mostly lawyers, judges and politicians.

Side note - what do you think of the name Irene? I know about the song, but I came across it today and it seems "rare" (as in not popular) as well as pretty and ageless. I am really liking it.

i only have about 5 names a piece for each gender that i absolutely LOVE. no if's, and's, or but's about them.

but the fiancee says that's not enough for him to choose through when the time comes for us to think about having kids.

he likes my theme/idea though (one biblical/religious and one from our heritage *mostly irish; he's 100% and i'm 1/3*)

so i made a list... or a few... and narrowed it down to names i can like/really like... but my problem has always been matching them up to a second name that fits.

My cousin and his wife are the new parents of Isaac Christopher, and my friends are new parents of Lily (not sure on middle name, maybe Charlotte.)

These come from a variety of sources, but all have been in articles submitted to the newspaper where I work. Sources include perfect attendance lists, honor roll lists, government press releases, obituaries, and more.

Male:
Tracgen (about 2 or 3)
Kennen John
Decimus Meridius (elementary school)
Elton (no mn listed, but others had mns, so might not have one)

Female:
Ianthia
Jantien
Joee
Arrettea
Ladda
Wyvetter (state representative, last name is Younge)
Maiya
Fancy
Nelva
Cyrelda (Cookie) - in her early 70s
Kyli Ann Nicole (never seen that spelling before)
Kylie Nykole Shae
Taiven Brenay
Desirea Storm
Brayla Rallen and Brisa Renee (at least sisters, probably twins)

Two that aren't bad at all but struck me as odd combinations for some reason:
Madolyn Drew
Kendra Rebecca Kay

So it dawns on me as I'm getting ready to design some baby announcements that I perfectly HATE the middle name we've picked for our baby. So much I actually dread publishing it, and am sort of embarrassed to have it seen. It just sounds horrible to me in combination with the first and last name. Problem is, my husband really wants to use it as it's his late grandfather's name. I feel awful and don't look forward to telling him I hate how it sounds. It's important to him and really, I don't have anything better in mind. It's just a middle name. But it's been nagging me that I've settled with it, and now I'm just at a point where I hate it. I'm wondering if it's not just pregnancy induced insanity. Ugh, I can't wait until this kid evacuates and I can go back to at least a fairly normal thought pattern and psyche.

So am I overreacting? or is Rowan Calvin Anderson really just yuck? Does it even matter in the long run?

Edit: Do most of you pronounce Rowan with at long A? I've always heard it pronounced more like Row-in.

1) i mean no offense by this, but does Chaya strike you as super jew-y?

2) as a nickname, Abbie or Abby?

Hello. I am absolutely in love with the name Ellie. But I don't want to name her (if in fact it is a girl. I am only 14w3d LOL) just Ellie. I want Ellie for a nickname. Only name I can come up with is Eleanor that can use Ellie as a nickname. My grandmother was Eleanor and while I don't HATE it, I don't love it. My grandmother hated her name and would roll over in her grave if I named a daughter after her! Plus my husband does not like it at all. So help please. What is a name I could use Ellie as a nickname for?
TIA
