Hi, am due in ten days and still haven't decided on a name.
Boy's names are so hard!
I like William Jacob but thought it might be a bit old fashioned.
Wdyt?

I was reading up on late actor Richard Farnsworth yesterday. At the time of his suicide, he was 80 and engaged to a 45-year-old. Her name was...Jewely.

He also had a son named Diamond.

...That's all I got.

Bleh. So my husband is still not thrilled about not using Peyton. I have, however, finally convinced him to give me a list of names he likes. And he's come up with:

Taylor
Mackenzie
Kennedy
Cassidy

Now I LIKE all of those names. I won't use Mackenzie though. And while I love Kennedy, I can't justify giving my girl a name that means "mishappen head". Taylor's a little TOO popular, even for my taste, and I still like it better on a boy (it's been on our boy's list for a while, most likely we'd use it as a middle name because of how many little girls have it). So that leaves us with Cassidy. Which, I'll admit, is really starting to grow on me. I'm thinking Cassidy Lane. What do you all think? Does it go well with Riley Abigail?

I was playing around online (instead of working) yesterday and found this website, which has the pictures and names of all the school's graduates from 1943 to 1970. My dad graduated high school in '68 and my mom in '70, so I'm pretty familiar with most of the popular names (Michael, Steven, Alan, Pat for guys; Carol, Pamela, Judy, Deborah for girls). I thought I'd post some of the more unusual names for this era here... keep in mind these people would have been born in between the late 40's and early 50's.

FEMALE:

Jannett (I'm assuming it's pronounced like "Janet," but I'm looking at it like "Juh-NET.")
Cinderee Jo
Wanda Drucilla
Concepcion Clotilde
Caridad (went by "Cary")
Ivy
Lynell
Henriette Le
Estrella
Aggie (short for "Agatha," I'm guessing)
Thea
Dayle/Dale
Zandra
Joletta
Pandora Mamie
Arlan
Altie
Herleana

MALE:

Layne
Bryant
Lawerance (never seen it spelled this way)
Othar (no idea how to pronounce this - Author? O-Tharr?)

Here are some names of children, mostly under 7, from my newspaper's letter to Santa. Sibs are posted on the same line. I left out some boring/common ones:

I need some help with a first name. Any suggestions please! I'm looking for a unique name, doesn't have to be really unique, that will match nicely with the middle name Lynn and the last name of Cobb. It's a girl, by the way :)

Some names I like.. )

My parents have always liked unique names, which resulted in me having a name which people find just absolutely difficult to spell or pronounce. Despite that, I've never really been teased. I live in Singapore, and you have a whole hodge-podge of different names there because of all the different races. The only thing that comes close to teasing is people telling me how hard it is for them to spell/pronounce my name. XD And I had one teacher who (he was old, but I had no idea if it was due to memory loss or teasing) called me something completely different (Mashumila Vasangka). The whole class laughed, but they were used to it, since the teacher has a habit of constantly changing people's names at will. Eg. Vanessa to Vanissa or Clara to Clarisse and the like. My name went the most major transformation though. :/ Follow the cut for the name. Dun dun dun! )

WDYT??

Anders Joseph Dealy (Daily) is pretty much set in stone, but I'm open to hear your opinions/advice as always. :)

My husband dislikes Nikolai, even though I'm quite fond of it. So I'm sticking with Nico. (Or Niko? Which do you like better?)

I have yet to come up with a nice middle name for Nico. I was thinking Alexander but then I realized his initials would be N.A.D.

I've been thinking of Nico Michael Dealy, but it doesn't have a nice rhythm to me.

I'm trying to find a masculine and also a longer middle name. I'm just so stuck!

It's funny how much of a fun hobby baby names are for me until I actually have children to name.
