So I'm browsing through the S.S. website at the 1000 most popular names in the 2000's, and I see...Baby. It's #964 and 994 baby girls have the name in the last 5 years...

(Also, 1022 have been Unique...)

Do people really have THAT hard of a time with names that they don't even give their baby one?!

So as I'm sitting here trying to think of baby names that are unique, but not "uneek" and something thats not overly used like Aiden, Hayden, Brayden, etc. or Madison. or Emma or something like that...

I didnt even remember that my own name is pretty different, and while I hated it when I was younger cuz I wanted a name like Ashley or something that everyone else had...

I've grown to really love it. So...not saying any of you would ever like it or use it, but just in case I'll post it. (My first name, and middle name.)

Denielle Paige

People call me "Deni" for short.

I actually think its kinda pretty..and its not something you hear often. People are always like "wow, its spelt with an E? thats really pretty! I love it!"

so yep ♥

If you like it, thats fine...if you don't thats fine too. Just thought I'd share it.

I am a fan of what most people call, 'trendy' names.

Although Christian is a fairly common name and always has been, what are your favorite non-traditional names?

I am going to name my new baby Keagan, but the others on the list were names like "Abram, Landon, Conner, Tanner, Christian, Hagen, and Brayden. Also, my 18 month old son's name is Easton.

My favorites for girls are Teagan, Diem, Aurora, and Makenna.

I recently heard the name Yesenia/ Yessenia and COMPLETELY fell in love with it. It was one of those names that just hits you. The only other name that's ever done that to me was Svetlana 6 1/2 years ago, and I have a 21 month old with the name.

But, back to the point. I'm having a hard time finding the origin and meaning of the name. Some sites say it's Arabic meaning flower and others say it's Spanish, related to (and sometimes even pronounced) Jessenia.

I'm not really looking for opinions of the name, just information about it. I'm pretty sure this will be my girl name. I was going to have Alia as a middle name, but with Yesenia it gives an "ah-ah-ah" stuttering feeling, so that will probably be changed.

Also, is googling the best way to find name meanings, or is there a really great site that's easier? Thanks!

I asked my husband this question tonight just for fun, and he had no answers. So, I figured I'd turn to you ladies because I'm positive you will have answers for me, and lots of great ones at that. Here's the question:

If you could only choose a WORD with no historical root as a name to name your child (girl or boy) what word/s would you use? (Language of origin doesnt matter, so long as it's not a word that's also used as a name i.e. Rose, Flora, Dawn-- and any words that mean that in other languages, such as Aurora means Dawn)

Here are my choices:

Prism- girl
Zanja- boy (Zanja is the spanish word for ditch)

Mine. . .  )
