So whats the worst name that someone you have been close to chose/liked. . . (I'm drunk so forgive any grammar errors, thought this would be fun)

#1. Honor Venetta. . . My best friend named her daughter that. I wanted to slap her.
#2. Merqouia. . . My friend Anneliese's chosen name if she has a girl. . .
#3. Brookelynne Mackenzee Van Dusen. . . I like the first name and the middle name, how ever, in MHO the three together are just mean.

Interested to see what you guys come up with!

Sober now! Remembered a few. . .

Sibs - Alexis Snow White and Odisius Hercules

My step daughter has two little girls in her pre-school class Ainsley and Brommley. . ..

We are LDS so I can only assume that that is where they got it. I just don't understand how they think that is a nice name for a little girl. I'll always think of a 90something year old man when I hear the name :/

when i was thirteen or so i had the biggest crush on a guy named fran. first of all..i've always thought fran was a girl's name. secondly..i just think it sounds ugly. anyway..what was even worse was that his full name was francisco, but pronounced like francesco. (fran-CHESS-koh)
i was confused..

My cousin has a daughter called Brogan, which sounds harsh and ugly in my opinion. His brother has sons called Cohen Jonah and Kaelin Odin. Odin? In the latter case, I believe it's because their mother dislikes having such a common name (Emma Jane) and wanted her children to have 'unique' names. I think there might be a happy medium, though!

Cohen is the name that my husband and I have chosen for our first child, should it be a boy. Before we found out that my mom has cancer, Jonah was our first choice.

I had a friend called Misty Dawn. So very, very sad.

A few people around me seem to be having Rivers and Skyes. I'm not a fan of them either.

Her full name is Gerzey Alexa Ilene L---. Her initials spell her grandmother's name, Gail. She'll be turning one in a couple months.

my friend wants to name her daughter Skyline Katherine Smith when her and her fiance have kids.

Skyline said like Sky-Leen.

Points to her for trying to be original, but bleh.

everyone is going to pronounce it sky-line. like the chicago sky line.

yes. i told her that and she argued with me lol

Well then, she's kinda... well, stupid, because skyline is an actual word and why would someone look at a word and think to pronounce it differently than the way it's already said?! Genius....

From: [identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com
Ugh... at least Skylene would be more obvious even if it is unpleasant

Pea.. it's a word for urine, a wee, a piss... maybe it's a british thing but 'i need a pee' is very normal over here!

Oh really, I am from Australia and had no idea that people in USA wouldn't think of "pee"

Even still, "pea" is a teaseworthy connotation for children I think... like carrot or broccoli

i don't think it's a british thing, although we usually say I need to pee, not need a pee. I hear it all the time.

From: [identity profile] fleckerbug.livejournal.com
It's also pronounced differently in Spanish or Italian: Pee-ah, which is pretty. Pea, in English, is not.

I like the name Thor, but I would choose Tempest over Stormy. They mean the exact same thing.

A girl I work with wants to give her daughters the middle names Purity and Wisdom... Wisdom I might be able to be ok about, but Purity I really really dont like.

I love the name Ainsley. It's at the top of my girls list. It's actually a genuine Gaelic girls name.

Purity would be a jinx, like Chasitity... ;D

Honor is a nice name, definitely better than Brookelynne Mackenzee.

my boyf thinks Tyler on a girl is "cute". bleh. Incidently, my friend Tyler (who's a boy) likes the names Sonny and Pete as full names. =/ my friend Whitney (who's a boy) wants to name his son Charles Templeton lol. and my friend Baylen wants to name his son Baylen Poseidon (his dad wanted his mn to be Poseidon but his mom vetoed).

my other friends are sensible and like nice names.

My old hairdresser named her baby Ripley. That was the only time I really had to struggle with a reaction when told of a child's name. "Oh! That's.... interesting." "My God, how awful" is what I was really thinking.

And my cousin named her kid Christopher - but spelled it Kristofer. Ick.

Fortunately I haven't personally known many baby ones - lots of boring, but not much that really makes me feel bad for the kid.

From: [identity profile] elemmennope.livejournal.com
That last sentence sound say "bad ones" in lieu of "baby ones."

Kristofer is awful!

Once I say Jennifer spelled jenypher, what is wrong with some people!

Chardonnay
Evergreen
Fahr (Far with an H?)
Heavynne (Like Heaven...but not!)
Jenasee
Portia (Just makes me think of "potty")
Purity Alice (Both first names...)
Shazzala

OH MY GOD..I was doulaing at a birth and the pregnant cousin of the laboring mother was there, due in a month. They were discussing baby names and the pregnant cousin brought up the name 'Jennessee'.. "Like Tennessee, but Jennessee!" It was the best I could do to just smile and nod.

I know someone with the last name Genesee (like Tennessee, with a G/J sound)
But eww for a first name!
