I'm not pregnant and I don't plan on having many children, and I already have my girl names picked out:

Anne Elinor
Elisabeth Felicity (called Liesel)

But my husband and I can't pick boy names, even speculatively. We have such trouble. There are a lot of names we LIKE but don't love (George, Daniel, Henry, Mason, Cory, Matthew).

A lot of names we like the nicknames for but hate the actual name (we HATE Nicholas but like Nick, HATE Edward but like Ted and Teddy). So far the only certain one we've come up with is John. We liked William, but we can't use it.

Does anyone else hate boy names?

How do you pronounce Moira?

Brígh

Any opinions on the name Brígh?
It's an Irish girls name pronounced bree. It means power or high. I'm guessing it means high in power instead of the drugged up form.

It's simple, yet the spelling makes it seem whole rather than Bree or Brie which would look like a nn for Brianna or Brielle or the like.

What do you think?

Okay, I seriously feel like I'm overusing this community, but I have one more quick question.

I really LOVE old fashioned classic style names. Most of the names on my list fit that category. Its also very important to me to honor my family when choosing names for my children.

Both my Grandparents on my moms side are from New Brunswick and therefore have really fun traditional names

MY grandfathers name is Edward and that is also my dads middle name so I will be using that!

As for girls there are a ton of fun options.

My grandmothers name is Ellen Jane Flynn
My Fiances grandmother is Janet Eileen
and my grandmother on my dads side is Margaret

Im very close with all these women and Id love to name my daughter after them

Here are some of the options tell me what you think

Evelyn
Eleanor / Elenore
Elisabeth
Ella
Elle

Combos

Evelyn Marta
Eleanor Margaret
Elisabeth Ann (my middle name and my moms middle name) call her Ella
Elisabeth Jane
Elisabeth Eileen - call her ellie
Ella Flynn

What do you think of each, which are your favorites.. any other middle name ideas?

Just wondering what you all think of my favourite names. I'm not pregnant!

Any suggestions for combinations are welcome. Or other name suggestions that seem to go along with the names that I have here...

Girls:

Georgia
Evelyn
Evangeline
Gabrielle
Virginia

Boys:

Elias
Julius (nn Jules?)
Gabriel
Jacob
Ezra

Also, my grandma's name is Sadie (well, it's her nickname for Sarah) and I'm starting to like that a lot. I would consider it for a middle name.

I don't know if I would want to use Gabrielle, Gabriel, or Jacob because of their popularity. If I did use them, they would be middle names only. I would only use Virginia as a middle name because otherwise she would probably get made fun of a lot. :/

I would LOVE Georgia Virginia if they weren't both names of states (even though I don't live in the US)!

Indea

I came across a girl called Indea today.
I can't work out how it would be pronounced though.
IN-dee-ah (like India), or IN-dee (like Indy).
What do you think of it and how would you pronounce it?
I like it.

Maybe we should have a name of the day poll. Someone (mod?) picks a name and we vote 1-10 or something, everyday. Maybe 1-10 or "yes/no" etc.

Last night, while lying in bed, I decided that I had to make a list of my top ten boys names and my top ten girls names, in order.

Ezra
Max
Jesse
Seth

Zack
Dylan
Theo
Rory
Elliot
Kai

Ivy
Asha
Keziah
Ebony
India
Skye
Elsa
Eliza
Jasmine
Zoe

bold = absolutely love
I found the girls names to be the hardest because while there are a lot of girls names that I like, there are few that I love. This is the other way round with boys, there are quite a few I love, but in total not many I like.

What is your top ten, or top five?

I'm a fan of the Dixie Chicks and earlier today I was trying to remember how many kids they had as a group, so I decided to go ahead and post it--figuring at least a few of you would be interested in discussing the names and such. Here they are:

Natalie Maines:
Jackson Slade Pasdar born on March 15th, 2001.
Beckett Finn Pasdar born on July 14th, 2004.

Emily Robison:
Charles Augustus "Gus" Robison born on November 11, 2002.
Julianna Tex Robison born on April 14th, 2005.
Henry Benjamin Robison born on April 14th, 2005.

Martie Maguire:
Eva Ruth Maguire born on April 27th, 2004.
Kathleen Emilie Maguire born on April 27th, 2004.

My favorite name on the list is Julianna, but I'm definitely not digging Tex to go with it. What does everyone think?
