Jan. 2nd, 2008 09:38 amMy ex-stepdad just went on a trip to florida to see his brother and his new wife. She's from Brazil and her name is Marley.
I kind of like it, what do you all think?
Also that reminds me, I've been wanting to post the name Marnie/Marny (I prefer the ie spelling)
I really like the name for some reason but I don't think I'd ever use it.
Thoughts?

Date: 2008-01-02 05:24 pm (UTC)My second thought is of Jacob Marley. Ebenezer Scroooooooooge...
Marnie makes me think of Tippi Hedren. Tippi Hedren, practically being raped by Sean Connery...Tippi Hedren, regressing to the mental state of a child and talking like a little girl...Tippi Hedren, getting a gun so she can take out a horse...so the name seems kind of comical to me. But since it's not one of Hitchcock's more acclaimed films, you may not have to worry about too many people having that association.
All that aside, it sounds like a nickname to me (as it was in the movie, short for Margaret).

Date: 2008-01-02 08:05 pm (UTC)With both of those names, I associate them with obscure characters from books and tv, as well as people I don't like very much, so I don't think I could ever use them myself, but I kind of like them, especially Marley.

Date: 2008-01-03 03:28 am (UTC)Marnie - I really like it. It's one of my friends names is Marnie Brooke. Marnie Elisabeth is a name combination I love for some reason.
