Fun with names

My boyfriend and I went through names and picked ones out that we both liked (it was hard and laborious). Here's the list...

Boys:
Vincent
Weaver
Logan
Willem
Theo
Aidan/Aedan (ugh, it's so popular right now... I prefer the alternate "Ae-" spelling)

Girls:
Rosaline
Maya
Channing
Jovi
Chell (pronounced "Shel")
Teagan/Tegan (I'm a little on the fence with this one)

I also liked the names Astrid and Erika for girls and Atticus for a boy, but he didn't go for those.

What do you think of this list, and which first name/middle name combinations work best, in your opinion?

I like Vincent and Theo. :) I prefer the traditional "William" over Willem though.

I think Chell sounds like something missing, maybe Michelle and call her Chell for short?

Jovi, despite thinking "Bon Jovi" is quite adorable.

Oh no, I didn't even think of Bon Jovi. In that case, I'd go with either "Jovie" or "Jovy".

Boys:
Vincent: Nice name, but I could never use it. Too many inside jokes about a guy named Vicente. Long story. /End random. :-D
Weaver: Not a fan.
Logan: Not a fan.
Willem: Don't like it.
Theo: Love it. Would it be short for theodore?
Aiden/Aeden (ugh, it's so popular right now... I prefer the alternate "Ae-" spelling): Too popular, I agree.

Girls:
Rosaline: Love this name!
Maya: I like this one too :-)
Teagan/Tegan: Not a huge fan of it.
Channing: No, I don't like it.
Jovi: Careful. That is what people call Jehova's Witnesses, and she might get teased. Not that there is anything wrong with J.W.'s, but that is just how it is.
Chell (pronounced "Shel"): That would be a nice nickname for Michelle.

Yup, Theo and Chell wouldn't be short for anything. My boyfriend and I both dislike the names Theodore and Michelle, but love the "nicknames".

I don't hate Aidan, but I hate how popular it is right now. :( I wouldn't want my kid in a classroom with 3 other Aidans, and become one of those kids in gradeschool that has to be called "Aidan X" (X being whatever the first letter of his last name is).

Logan - Trendy
Willem - Prefer William
Theo - Prefer Theodore, Theo is too nicknamey
Aidan/Aedan - Too trendy, but if you have to use it, spell it Aidan

Rosaline - Nice
Maya - Okay
Channing - Hate it
Jovi - Never heard of it
Chell (pronounced "Shel") - People will always spell it 'Shell'
Teagan/Tegan - Trendy, and too cutesy sounding for me

I'm hoping the trendy names (Aidan, especially) will have died down by the time I have kids, which won't be until at least another 6-10 years, hopefully. I didn't even know that the name Logan had become trendy.

My name is always misspelled also (spelled Jacqueline; nickname spelled Jacqui). It is a bit annoying correcting people, but I love how both my real and nicknames are spelled. If my child gets stuck with a hard-to-spell name, I hope he or she would come to appreciate its uniqueness too.

I love Astrid, by the way, too bad he didn't like it! ;)

Jovi is really weird, I think (and I usually like 'weird' names ;)) mostly because it sounds so masculine to me. The god Jupiter is called Iovi (pronounced pretty much the same), that's probably why. Yeah, that's probably not the first thing people will think of when they hear the name, but it's what it makes me think of.

I think Maya Roseline sounds really nice.
Roseline Chell works too, and I also like Maya Tegan.
The boy's names are harder to pair!

I love Astrid too! Maybe when the time comes, he'll have softened up to it... or it could be used as a middle name. I like Roseline Chell the best out of the combinations you picked out.

I love Vincent and Willem. I have to admit, despite its popularity, I like Aidan a lot. I always have.

How would you be pronouncing Rosaline? I like it with both the "line" and the "lin" sound at the end, but just curious. Chell isn't usually my style, but there's something I like about it. I imagine it more as a middle name. Teagan is my favorite of your girl's list.

Vincent Willem and Teagan Chell are my favorite combinations.

I like "Rosaline" pronounced as a lin. Maybe I should change the spelling?

I love Channing as a first name, but it doesn't seem to work well. It looks like it'll end up being a middle name. Channing Teagan is nice, but to me, it sounds like too much of a character. :\

We use to like Aidan/Aedan before it became so popular, but we always spelled it Aiden.
