I had to go to an ear specialist for balance testing today. They insert air into the inner ear, you get very dizzy, and the doc quizzes you to see if you can make sense during the process. The first section of the test, I didn't do too terribly bad, and believe it or not, the quiz was about names! She told me to tell her a girl's name with the letter A, then B, then so on. I hesitated a little, but I managed to get through most of the letters with the girls. I had to do boys too.

I was suprised at some of the names that I came up with. For the record, I failed the second part of the test bigtime. After another round of air in the ears, I was so disoriented that I couldn't name states, cities, or countries by alphabet. She gave up on the geography, and told me to name items sold at Walmart. I only made it to letter D before completely zoning out. That test was quite an experience....it felt like I was on a roller coaster. Once I snapped out of it, I immediately thought of names to fill in the blanks that I had during the test, and named all the states in my head alphabetically to make sure that I was ok. LOL

Anyway, enough rambling.....thoughts on any of the names? Believe me, they were very, very random.

 
Edit Note: This quiz was done quickly, so it's not like I was sitting there thinking of my favorite names. Like I said, it was very random, and I was so disoriented that I was happy just to be able to think of any name at all. For the record, the only girl name on that list that is on my real list of names is Rose. It was just the first one that came to mind.

I've been going to ear doctors every few months since I was born. It's only the past couple of years I haven't had to go very often. I've never had that test done. I kind of want to now.

I hope I don't have to take it again. It was actually not pleasant at all. The air made my ears hurt more than they already did, I was nauseated, and so dizzy that I was hanging onto the table for dear life. The disorientation and memory lapses were disturbing (not knowing what state I lived in or where I was freaked me out a little!), but once it was over, I was ok.

The names thing was interesting. I also had to count backwards a lot and spell several words. I figure that was just her random way of testing...I doubt every ear doctor has the same method of quizzing.

Well I'm no ear specialist, so don't expect me to give you a scientific answer. It was a constant flow of air that went all the way through to my inner ear for 60 seconds. The room started spinning so badly that I almost got sick. I wasn't expecting to become disoriented because I had never had the test before, but the doc told me that it was expected. I had the test to begin with because I have developed vertigo. I have moments when I can't walk without hanging onto things, and couldn't drive without throwing up. It is a result of chronic sinus and ear infections.

I find it interesting that both your C names started with Ch, rather than K or S sounds.

Hmmm I didn't notice that! And I don't know anyone with those names, so they were very random choices.

That test sounds horrible! One of the worst things to me is being disoriented. But now I'm curious to see what I would come up with on a similar test.
