Baby names meaning "four!" Go! My co-worker is expecting twin grandsons and their older brother is Russell III, though goes by Tres. I thought of Quentin for "five", but can't come up with anything for "four."
i think i might be answering this wrong but here i go. does it actually have to work as a name? cause chetirye (russian- четыре) could be "Chet". and i guess in french, quatre sounds kind of like "Kat".
too bad you werent asking for 3, cause in cherokee, 3 is tso'i which sounds a lot like joey.
I think I'm a bit confused. Your co-worker is expecting twin grandsons and their older bother is Russell III... are they going to be Russell IV and Russell V?
Nickname Ideas: Chip (chip off the old block) Quart (for quarter; fourth) Kat (Haitan Creole for four) Kei (Seneca Indian for four) Vier (Dutch for four) Pete (Petora, four in Oscan Italic)
My co-worker's son-in-law's name is Russell Jr. His first son is Russell III, but goes by Tres to minimize having three Russ's alive in the family at the same time. We were trying to think of cute "four" and "five" meaning names for these twin boys; they won't be Russell IV and V :)
This reminds me of Gundam Wing...the five pilots were numbered, but then some of their names went along with their numbers, and some of the other characters randomly had names that were or were close to numbers in various languages.
Pilot #4 was Quatre, for what it's worth, although I wouldn't really suggest any of the GW names for use in real life.
In Indonesian it's Empat and in Javanese it's Papat. Catur (cha-toor) I THINK is Sanskrit for 4, but don't even begin to think that I'm undeniably correct with the pronunciation of that.
In Balinese the word is Pat, in Maori it's Wha (fa).
I like Wha... because it's the fourth sound in the do-re-mi sequence. But for normal use - 'Pat'.

Shiro (Japanese; fourth born son)
Anane (African, fourth son)
And this doesn't technically mean 'four', but one of the sites I used came up with it, so i thought I'd throw it in anyway...
Balfour? ;)
