Yay! I can join this community with no funny looks from friends and family!
I'm 7 weeks pregnant (hooray!) but the Husband and I have been talking names for ages. I like names that offer a nickname, mainly because we both have one and it's handy to work out how much in trouble you are by the amount of names your parents used (if ever I got "Nicola Fiona!!" I knew I was in for it!)
So I just thought I'd put some of my names here and that would be all fun :)
Girls.
Eva Ann (nickname Evie)
Charlotte Ann or Charlotte Fern (nickname Charli)
Boys.
Cobey Danger (HE wants this as a middle name. And it's so damn cute I can't say no.) (nickname Cobes?)
Tobey John (nickname TJ)
Thoughts?
We both love Eva but lately Charlotte's been creeping in and I'm not sure if I like it more... I guess i still have ~ 8 months to work it out.

Date: 2005-11-22 12:37 pm (UTC)Blame husband.
I like Cobey Douglas a bit more.
I'm half hoping the baby's a girl so he won't get stuck with Danger for a middle name.
I can veto it, I know. I'm also hoping that husband has been joking for the past 2 months.

Date: 2005-11-22 12:44 pm (UTC)I know that Coby (without the E) is a pet form of Jacob.
So what about Jacob?
Or using something that sounds like Cob(e)y:
Cody
Colby
Jory

Date: 2005-11-22 12:47 pm (UTC)I like Cody, but it sounds a bit American (which is fine.. in fact Cobey sounds American too I guess. I'm Aussie is all)
Don't like Colby.
Jory I don't like. I don't mind Rory tho' :)

Date: 2005-11-22 01:05 pm (UTC)Tobey John is lovely, though I like Tobias better--you could just nickname him Toby.

Date: 2005-11-22 01:42 pm (UTC)Same goes for Tobey - as the above commenter wrote, I'd go with Tobias, which is an elegant, strong and uncommon name, and can still be shortened to Toby.
Your girls' names are great. My name is Eva and I've never met anyone with the same name, although it looks like it's getting more popular! I never used to like it much, it's been growing on me :) Eva Charlotte is quite nice if you like both, unless you'd like to save Charlotte for a future daughter, of course!

Date: 2005-11-22 01:44 pm (UTC)And I don't really like Tobias.

Date: 2005-11-22 01:54 pm (UTC)My point is that I don't know any professionals middle names. My brother is in real estate and doesn't have "Cameron James" on his card. I'm a teacher aide and "Nicola Fiona" isn't on my badge.
Nor has it ever featured on my resume.. or anyone elses I've seen.
I know as well as we all do that it's a silly name. Hence why I blame husband for it at any chance I get.

Date: 2005-11-22 03:24 pm (UTC)I'm a sucker for literary names, so of course Charlotte Fern is nice.
Something with the Evie/Charlotte combo would be a very pretty name.
"Cobey" makes me think of cheese, even though yes I know it's Colby. And "Danger" makes me think of Austin Powers, which in turn makes me think of a very hairy man.
Tobey isn't too bad.

Date: 2005-11-22 04:34 pm (UTC)I love Eva, that's such a beautiful name. So, if you have a little girl I suggest that one. :)

Date: 2005-11-23 11:49 am (UTC)I know I'll swap and change. We've had Eva written down for years, but in the last few weeks I've gone "I like Charlotte now..." :p
Then yesterday I was thinking "Isla's a nice name.." LOL
