Since my husband's not home to consult, I'll ask you. What do you think of the name Felix? I've heard it used on girls, but I think I prefer it on boys. It's definitely growing on me.

Love it. Cool and quirky.

It's rather english middle class.. cat connotations, but that doesn't bother me.

Felix on GIRLS? Is nothing sacred? I don't even like the name that much, but I can't believe anyone would ever use it on a girl. Next we'll have girls called William or David...

I work with a woman named Felix and she's an upper-middle class English lady, probably in her early 50s. Not at all the type of person you'd expect to have a bloke's name! I'm used to the name on her now but I still think it's a bit silly.

I really like it for a boy, but it's just too much of a stretch for a girl.

Not a fan on a boy.

You've seen it on a GIRL?!?!?! EWWWWW! WTF is wrong with Felice or Felicia or Felicity?

Down right awful on a girl.

Heh, I'm watching a TV show right now and one of the characters is named Felix! I like the name even though it's not my style.

I don't really like it for a girl OR a boy.
I just think "cat" when I hear it.

Felix for a girl is just ridiculous in my opinion.

It works for a boy I guess, but I have to agree with those who think of the cat first.

I love it for a boy.

It is SO WRONG on a girl.

It was my number 1 for years. Now it's more like number 3. I do love it, a lot.

I can't see it on a girl whatsoever.

It's always been a cat's name to me.

It's definitely on my list because I love it, but for a girl? That's just awful. Why do people use boys' names when there are EXTREMELY PRETTY and PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE female versions, such as Felicity and Felicia? Stupid.

The only Felix I know is female but I still think that it's bizarre on a girl. Personally I think it's ok on boys but probably best left to cats.

It's a cat's name to me, but I don't hate it, and I like that it means 'luck'/'fortune' =)
Definitely a boy's name though.

Never on a girl!
Kind of cute on a boy reminds me of The Odd Couple (Oscar and Felix)

I guess I'm in the minority on this one, but I knew the most adorable little girl named Felix and it really suited her. Her parents were really young, hip and alternative, and I thought the name was really cut for their daughter. So now I only think of it as a girls name.

They're probably not the same people who like Felix on a girl.

I think you have a major persecution complex. Almost every single post or comment you make is declaring your hatred of boys' names on girls, and accusing people in this community of throwing a fits at the names you like, which I have rarely seen happen. I'm not going to say never, but for example, you just made a post about names, and out of thirty comments, I don't think I saw one negative one. Also, I think it's kind of contradictory for you to hate boys' names on girls, when you like names like Leah and Hannah on boys.

Seriously, I don't mean to be a bitch, but we get it.

I actually really like the name Felix but only for boys.
I didn't even know it's used on girls, too.

(BTW, icon love ;))

Definately a boys name.
First thing that comes to mind is a cat, but it's ok!
I quite like it.

I like the name, but it reminds me of Felix the Cat (whom I loved growing up, so I guess it's not such a bad thing).

After years studying Russian history I've a soft spot for Felix, because of Felix Yusupov. And the meaning/sound/etc of the name is quite appeal.
Equally though I'd never use it myself, because I can't get past that association. :)

Totally can't see it on a girl.
