 Paxton, for a girl or boy?

I really like it for both sexes. It feels...like a strong, intellectual name to me. I like the different nicknames I can think of that would go along with it but I can't think of many.I would seriously consider using it for a future child though. Your thoughts?

I don't look at the boards or anything to see whats trendy. I honestly don't care much about that factor. I just believe whatever you like, you like you know?

A lot of people I've asked about it for a girl think it's really bad but I just don't see it.

It's very masculine thats all.
There are gender neutral names like Taylor, Morgan etc.. but to me paxton screams male.

I like Paxton though I'm a sucker for surnames as first names. I'd rather it on a boy but I could see it on a girl in this day and age. We seem to be moving towards very feminine and at the same time more unisex names.

It's always sounded cutesy and nerdy to me, but in a way that makes me like it a lot. It's definitely boy to me.

The only people I've heard it on are teachers or very artsy types, no trailer trash people whatsoever.

It's unisex and trendy, sort of like Peyton. It's one of those names you hear on skanky girls who hang out in the food court at the mall.

That's on a girl, of course. On a boy it's not TOO bad, though I still think it's rather bland.

I can see what you're saying. I can't stand the name Peyton whatsoever. I don't find Paxton to be trendy at all, but then again like I've said I don't read the lists or anything like that to even know what's trendy and what's not. And furthermore I just can't stand the whole 'trendy' crap anyways. (not saying anything bad about you saying it) I just feel like it's almost a way for people to just hate a name not because it sounds like crap but because it's 'in'

If you like a name you like it no matter what anyone says or how many other people who have it in my opinion.

I know what you mean about the skanky girl name thing though. Only I think of names like Alexis and Destiny or plenty others that would fit in there. This name just doesn't seem to go that way for me but if we all liked the same names that would just suck.

Ditto that. Although, I'm pregnant with a little girl named Peyton :). I agree about the trendy thing. I hate that people hate a name just because others like it. And I see Alexis and Destiny as more skanky-girl names then Peyton or Paxton as well.

I mostly hate the unisex naming thing but I do have a soft spot for Peyton on a girl. I wouldn't use it; my style tends to run toward Julianna and Eleanor and the like. Still, cute though.

Paxton sounds too abrupt to me to be a female name. It kind of seems crisp for a boy, but a little harsh for a girl. I do like it as a middle name for girls, to balance out a flowery first name or add interest to a common last name, for example: Victoria Paxton Smith or Elisa Paxton Jones.

Because no matter if it's a surname or even though there are plenty of places called Paxton. I think it sounds good as a first name. That's all there is to it. Because I like it. That's something important for anyone choosing a name they like in my opinion.

One of my favourite names is Peyton though (on girls), I like that much better.
I think I'm just not a fan of 'x's in names.
