What do you think?
And please let me know which spelling you think is best for each name. I live outside of New York City so these are not common here at all. If you can think of any other spellings please let me know

i first heard the name aoife a few years ago, when i discovered the band crooked still (http://www.crookedstill.com), the lead singers name is aoife o'donovan. it took me a while to pronounce it correctly, but i really like it.

i love celtic/gaelic names. these are some great ones.

others i like are caoimhe, siobhan, kaitlin, and aislinn.

for boys i like finn and seamus. i kind of like eamon too. and i used to like aiden, before its downfall.

I really like the name Neala/Neila, but I think it's prettier just written as it's pronounced: Neela. That probably makes it less Gaelic looking, but I like it better that way.

Interestingly, I have a friend with a little brother whose name is spelled Tighe, and it's pronounced 'Ty'... personally I think that perhaps the pronunciation wasn't looked up before the child was named...

I'd probably never use an Irish girls' name (except for Kaitlyn or Fiona) because I wouldn't want to mispell them but they have soo many weird letter combinations.

That said, I absolutely love Caoimhe (honestly, how does one get Keeva out of that) and Ciara.

C makes a K sound, mh and bh make a v sound, e on the end makes an a sound, s makes a sh sound. Once you know what the letters say, it's not too hard.

That said, Caoimhe is one of the tougher ones :)

I love the entire list! Especially Ciara. However, I refuse to underestimate the stupidity of the American public. I realize that most of my fellow Americans are too stupid (or too lazy) to educate themselves on other cultures and accept names the way they are traditionally spelled and pronounced. /rant

Ciara is now pronounced See-AIR-ah thanks mostly to the R&B flavor-of-the-day girl (the title of singer would be a misnomer) known by that name. ::sigh::

I really really like Aoife and Fiona.
For boys, the only one I like is Seamus, but only because I know one, but even on the east coast he routinely gets called "Sea-moose".

Aoife - Love it.
Aislin / Ashling / Aislinn - My favorite spelling is Aislinn. I would love to use this name, but I know that people will forever be spelling it "Ashlyn" and thinking that I'm trendy and boring, haha.
Caoilainn / Kalin / Kaelynn - Sooo popular right now, and there are so many horrendous spellings out there...no thanks.
Caoimhe / Keeva - Love it.
Cara / Kara - I knew a Kara who gives the name unpleasant associations to me. But it's pretty!
Ciara / Keera / Kira / Keira / Kiera - I would only use the spelling "Keira" or "Kiera", but I think it's beautiful.
Eibhleann / Avelyn / Avelin - I like Avelyn.
Fiona - LOVE it. :o)
Kaitlyn / Katelynn / Kaitlin - Way overused, in my opinion.
Neala / Neila - Not one of my favorites.
Niamh / Neve / Nieve - I love this name. So pretty!
Ruari / Rory / Rori - I like it, but everyone associated it with Rory Gilmore, unfortunately.
Siobhan (Shiv-aun) - I like it.

Aiden / Aeden - I prefer the spelling "Aidan". Actually my favorite spelling is "Aodhan". But it all sounds the same, and there are fifty-billion of them out there right now, so no.
Braden - I used to like it. But the spike in popularity makes it less attractive in my mind.
Cian / Kian - Like it.
Eamon / Eamonn - I love this name!
Finn - Love it.
Seamus - Loooove it!
Sean - Such a classic, but so nice.
Tadhg / Tighe - Really not a fan of this one. Sounds strange to me.
