 New here. :)
I was walking to school today and I saw this little girl and her parents were shouting, "Carmelina! Carm!" And I just thought it was really cute.

WDYT?
Would the person have to clarify the spelling/pronunciation of the name too often?
And what do you think of the nn Carm?

It makes me think of Carmelita the nasty little girl from Lemony Snicket's books, so I'm not too fond of the name.

Welcome. =)

I don't like Carmelina.. at all. But I think Carm is a cute nn for Carmen.. and I really like the name Carmen.

Carmelina just reminds me of caramel. Which.. by all means is delicious candy.. but.. lol. And I would fear that someone reading her name would have the problem of "car-a-mel" or "car-mel"

I think it's lovely!
It seems easy enough to spell if you didn't already know how. Carm is okay, but it's kind of incomplete to me. I would be compelled to say Carme (car-mey) instead.

It sounds legit as a name in a Spanish-speaking country, though someone who has more knowledge of that than me would have to confirm. I'm pretty sure Carmelita is. I'd guess they're both diminuitives of Carmen.

I'd use Carmen and just call her Carmelina.

I have a friend from PA named Carmeleda and she uses the nn Carm. I thought it was a little odd when I first met her but now I'm used to it.

I have an aunt named Carmel, so to me Carmelina just sounds like a creative variant of it I guess haha.

All I think of is this Matthew Good Band song. Called... well, Carmelina.

I always liked the name because of that song, but I guess I'm the only one. lol.

I like Carmelina but not Carm. If Carmelina needed a nick name I'd choose Lina

I don't think there would be a problem with the pronounciation of Carmelina. I'm not a huge fan of the name - but I like the nn Carm. I'd probably use Carmel (pronounced Carmelle).

For a kid of Italian/Hispanic decent (or something like that), I kind of like it, although I like Carmela better. And I definitely don't like the nn Carm.
