So I want to have one of my daughter's middle names be Marjorie after my grandmother.

But. 2 things. One...I don't really like Marjorie...and my top 3 girl's names are Lucy, Hillary and Audrey so none of them go well with Marjorie.

Should I choose maybe Margaret instead or just not use Marjorie at all?

Thanks!

And Happy Thanksgiving.

A name that has meaning supersedes a name that has ideal "flow." Lucy and Audrey sound fine with Marjorie to me, particularly if the last name doesn't have the same -EE sound at the end.

I like the idea of using Margaret instead. They're very similar, and I think it's a GREAT middle name. Audrey Margaret and Lucy Margaret are both gorgeous:)

I actually like Marjorie better than Margaret.

But if you don't like it I think you should go with something you do like.. if you like Margaret or if you like another name that might have meaning as well. What's your grandmothers middle name? Would you use that?

if you're going to honour a relative yuo should use their name.. Margaret really is nothing like Marjorie.. i mean it's derived from the same place but.. doesn't seem such an obvious connection to me.

Marjorie/Margaret means pearl..

Audrey pearl is very pretty.

Or you could use the inital. I know a lot of people who just use the first initial of the name... my middle name is Rae but the R was for my mom's uncle Robert who had passed away. Then my dad's uncle Robert passed away and my brother's middle name became Richard.

I like Lucy and Marjorie together, the sound is very 1930s-and-40s-England.

Since Majorie is a diminuative of Margaret, I see no reason why you couldn't use Margaret. However, I think it would be a better/clearer connection if you used Marjorie.

The problem with your favorite names (at least to me) is that they all end in an EE sound and as does Marjorie. Maybe you could change the names around a bit -- Lucille Marjorie, for example, sounds wonderful and Lucy could always be used as a nick-name for Lucille.
